CDR 23 Radio

Recommended Posts

I have a 03 TT the lights were left on one night so I had to use a jump box to start it, with a helping hand the box was first hooked up wrong, as soon as it sparked the cable was taken off and everything seemed fine until I went to use the radio, nothing, I checked the CD changer and it would not eject either so I checked the radio fuse in the kick panel and it was blown, changed it and still nothing removed the radio that fuse was also blown, changed that now the radio lights up and works but no sound I tested all of the fuses and they all look good. Is there and amp fuse? If so were is it?

There have been a few of these. Have someone with a PST2 or PIWIS look at your CDR23 fault codes. The problem is usually a bad radio or bad amp (I think I've heard of more bad amps).

Hi Loren,

I recently purchsed a used Boxster S (I'm the 3rd owner, it's the facelifted 986 MY03) and I've been enjoying the car ever since. 3 weeks ago I left for overseas assignment for couple of days and came home with the battery flat (Moll Kamina DIN 66 at 70AH). I replaced the battery (ACDelco DIN88 at 88AH) and all is well with radio singing away et al... That's until last week when my CDR23 (with BOSE system) suddenly has no sound whatsoever when switched on. The display and function all seem to work fine but there's just no sound. I tried both radio and CD (which looked like it's playing with track display etc..) but to no avail.

I disconnected the amp and cleaned the contacts. When connected back, I could hear the CD changer checking the CDs with clicking sound. This I think shows that the AMP is still working. After the cleaning, I switched on the CDR23 again, normal display again but still no sound.

I'm now still puzzling what could be wrong. Hope you can shed some light on this.

Thanks.

Hi Loren,

In that case I'll leave it with OPC to have them further diagnose. I went to see them last week for a quick computer check and mechanic found no fault code. So what I'm getting here is possibly a blown amp but it will not register a fault code with the car's computer.

Thanks Loren :renntech:
