Stuck Cupholder

2002 C4S, USA model.

Car has the factory cupholder in the upper center dash console. It is very difficult to open and requires some downward pressure with a fingernail or screwdriver before it will pop out. On preliminary visual inspection nothing looks broken or out of place. I'm planning to remove the horseshoe trim and do a further inspection this weekend, but want to know if anyone else has experienced this problem and if so, what is the fix?

I took mine off and move climate control unit to where cup holder was. And added GT3 console delete... so I can do little dance while I am driving... much better and wide space I get from this.

Same for me. Have you fixed by yourself

I've not dedicated any time to try to fix this. I either leave the cup holder open all the time or use my Swiss Army knife to pry it out. Still hoping someone will post a fix for it.
