BOSE questions

Just got a 986 facelift with Bose. dash and door speakers work but nothing is coming from the rears or sub at any volume level.

Does the amp in the front power all speakers? Or is there one built into the rear unit for the sub?

I was going to live with the MOST bused CDR23 and its lack of decent Ipod connection until a CD has got stuck in the HU and will not come out. So have decided to replace the HU and amp with aftermarket stuff.... Will the following make sense?

***(assuming there is copper going to each speaker from the original amp area, and the rear Bose box issue is fixed)***

4 channel amp, drive the dash and door speakers off 2 channels, bridge another 2 channels for the sub and drive the rears off the HU amp.

Thoughts?

Hi, I have a 03 Boxster that originaly had the m490 option w/ the cdr23 deck. I replaced everything with a 2001 Bose system including the hu for a cdr220. The bose amp was actualy two amps. One was normal size that fed the dash and door speakers, the other amp rode piggy back and was much smaller. This smaller amp fed the rear sub assembly consisting of 4 speakers and was rated at 100 w. Hope this helps.
