Hi everyone..

The interior lights fail to come on when the doors are opened. When ignition is turned on they work OK.

I have searched the forum and two solutions seem feasible:-

It could be a faulty ignition switch - although there are no other symptoms.

Key turns ok, headlights ok. starts ok

Or it could be in Transit Mode. Does this need PST2 attention? Or would a Durametric alternative be able to handle it?

Or could it be something else?

I'm not sure if this is relevant, but the warning chime for headlamps left on does not work unless door is opened immediately after turning off ignition. A delay of more than 3sec results in no chime

Car is a 2001 2.7 Boxter, RHD, UK

Cheers, Ridders

For your first problem, if this was a US car I would say for sure it is still in the transit mode since the interior lights work with the ignition key turned on. Doubt if it is any different for a UK car.

A PST2/PIWIS can take it out of the transit mode and put it into the "handover" mode. Don't know if Durametric can do this.

Richard Hamilton is in the UK and has the ability to take a car out of the transit mode. He is on this board as well as others. Contact him and see if he can help you out.
