Well it finally happened...After 8+ years of flawless operation, my convertible top made the hideous popping sound that I've been reading about and is now stuck in the up position. When attempting to lower the top, the right side of the clamshell raises, while the left side doesn't move. From what I can gather from this forum, it sounds like I've probably got a busted cable and push rod coupling.

Since this repair sounds like it's going to be a real pain in the a$$, my question to the experts is:

What parts do you recommend I replace (besides the broken ones ;) ) to hopefully get another 8 years of hassle free service out this thing? I'd like to replace all the parts in one shot so I don't have to mess with this again anytime soon.

Also, is there a kit available with all of the replacement parts? I thought I saw mention of one in a prior post.

Any help would be greatly appreciated...

Check the TSB's, I remember one on the top for 97-98 years of Boxster. I got all the parts in a kit from a dealer. There were two gearboxes, two wire cable drivers, and the mounting hardware for the gearboxes. I remember all this being about 1K$'s. Whatever parts are broken or bend should also be replaced, these are usually the drive arms for the clamshell and the top. If you earch around you should be able to find more info as this has been a popular topic.

I haven't been able to locate a kit...Can anyone provide a list of the part numbers that commonly wear, bend, or break in this situation? Thanks.
