Started putting in the lowering springs on the front, got the axle nut off , top of strut loose, brake caliper hanging free, disc off, nut off of lower ball joint , but can't "lift" wheel carrier off of ball joint as directed in an earlier post. Its really stuck or I don't know how to break it free. Tried driving in a couple of wedges but it didn't budge. Anyone out there done this without special tools? Other posts claimed 2 1/2 hours for all 4 wheels, I am that much into the first one. I'm in no hurry though, I have till March to complete. Any ideas appreciated.

Thanks for the info Loren (as usual ). Have ordered tool ( $28 ). Also bought an 18 mm wrench ( needed for ball joint and strut clamp ).

I went back and gave another try at the lower joint and pop off it came. Just had to get the right spacers and wedges on both sides of the ball at once.

I think the C4 Spring installation installation is definitely more difficult and longer than the C2 would be.

Any way here are couple of photos. The flash doesn't do a black car justice.

The side view is with the front done. Almost looks like the back is jacked up higher than before.

Front dropped by exactly 1". I put the top of the struts in exactly the same spot and it looks like I picked up a noticeable amount of camber.

Enough for this weekend.

PS: car is off the road and won't be drivien like this.
