Part #2 of "a little knowledge is a dangerous thing". . .

Changed air filter on '99 Boxster this AM with greatest of ease, and while cleaning out engine compartment with vacuum, must have knocked throttle cable off the little shield or guide or whatever that thing is called on the throttle body; when I got back in and stepped on throttle, it was hard to push down, grated as it went. My sharp-eyed father noticed that the cable didn't look right, we pushed it back on to where we figured it should be, problem solved.

Except that the throttle cable seems fairly loose as it passes over that guide. How much tension is appropriate, and if I stretched it by pushing on pedal while it was off the guide, how can I re-adjust tension?
