1998 silver 996 carrera 2, RHD,

The driver's side seat belt is not pulling back into the pillar very quickly when I release the catch. It's a problem if I'm in a hurry getting out of the car and forget to stow the belt and catch inside - belt and catch get caught in door when it closes.

I'm assuming it's common with ageing seat belts

Anyone please tell me if it's easy to fix, and how?

Thanks

compare L and R sides. if it's really a problem, then you'll need to replace the belt. this requires removal of the interior rear quarter panel and should take 1-2 hr at most depending on your experience level. there are lots of clips involved in removing the panel. this may be a good time to upgrade to red or yellow belt. if you stick w black belt, look for used ones on ebay for cheap too.

Hi,

There are some ball bearings in the clip and

maybe they are dirty. You can get to

the clip and lubricate it but, the work

it takes maybe better spent just replacing

the clip.

Thanks for this.

It is just the one side that's got the problem

will get the interior manual out again

probably stick to black - matches the upholstery
