Alarm issue while driving

Recommended Posts

Morning/Afternoon/Evening global people :D

Boxster 99 - issue with alarm according to the wife. When she's driving the alarm goes off on occassion. She's tried to stop it by pressing button on keys but this doesn't work. She can however still drive the car, park up, get out and lock up (haven't seen this myself but I believe her... after all I married her!)

ideas? i've read around and asked her to try the horn just in case something is up there

Your help, as always, is truly appreciated

Since you mention horn - are you sure it is not the horns going off (steering wheel horn issue)?

If not, and the lights flash etc. then I would check under the drivers seat first for water - that is where the control box is and when you have a leak that seems like the first place water goes.

Hi Loren

I will check when I get home today. The horns thing I picked up from reading around the forum and will definitely look under the seat

Many thanks

Like Loren said. http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=1728

A 1999 will most likely have a 4 spoke steering wheel. The alarm horn has nothing to do with the horns for the steering wheel.

Hi

as mentioned earlier I'm going to check the horn to see if it is that... car is honking continuously though whenever she has experienced the issue while driving. Would the car horn do that?

kind regards and thanks as always

Remove the cover for the battery. On the drivers side next to the battery you will see a round horn. This is the alarm horn. Unplug the connector to the alarm horn. Go on a drive. If you hear the horn(s) then you know it is not the alarm horn.

:notworthy:

top draw - will try this tonight when I get home

many thanks

Harinder
