A couple of weeks ago the warning for our back up lights came on. I checked and sure enough, both lights were out. Without having time to actually look at it, we drove the vehicle and about a week later, the lights started working again and the warning light went out.

Now, 2 days ago, the "Check left cornering lamp" warning came on and neither the left nor the right cornering lamps are working.

Are the back up lights and cornering lamps controlled by the same fuse/relay? I can't imagine that both back up bulbs would go bad at the same time and then start working again and now the same thing happens with the cornering lamps?

Any suggestions?

Sounds like the onboard computer networking control box that controls the lights. Probably time to have them put a Porsche system tester (PST2 or PIWIS) on it.

I had the same problem on my Cayenne and traced it to damp in the rear license plate lights - due to water getting into the lamp fixture and sitting into where the bulb sits.

I'm not sure if this is a general flaw that happens when water runs down the rear hatch or just on my Cayenne.

To fix it I removed the lamp covers (simply unscrew), removed the bulbs and dried the fixtures. Then I put everything back but made sure the rubber seals between the lamp cover and bodywork were tight.

No more annoying, random warning beeps with "check xyz bulb".

No, front light controlled directly by Electrical system ctrl unit in front, rear light controlled by rear control unit. regarding front cornering light - did you remove light? in this case you should use original contact spray before put light assy back, described in workshop manual, not in user book. in case light was not removed - if lamps below hid lenses works ok depend of turning steering wheel - keep in yor mind to replace bulb in closest future. same with back lamps. both of them connected in parralel to one output and if you seen warnings it means lamps(95%%) or contacts will take your attention soon.

I just replaced my front parking lights (first stage of lights). Since I did that I have had numerous faults with the right turning signal bulb. It works then it doesn't. Do I need to spray with contact cleaner? Its driving me crazy already.

@ glxtasy The problem with Cayenne corner lights is when one bulb is burned out, the other doesn't work. Change both, they have the same life time anyway. The back up lights problem is linked on the REAR PARKASSIST, there was probably a bad contact in the gearbox switch.

@ gjameson The signal bulb holder loose contact in the head light, bend the metal contact plates a little for more pressure and better contact.

I've had the check cornering lamp warning (! gotta love it) on too and the cornering and "side light" doesn't work because the side light (underneath the headlight) is burnt out. Ironically, it's incredibly easy to take out the headlamp assembly and replace. The hard part is finding the stupid little W5W bulb. No major automotive store I can find carries it and I've been told by some they can't even order them. Hmmmm...I'm sure the dealer has them though for $20 a piece.
