My little girl is 1 year old & is about to outgrow her rear-facing car seat (it fits fine in the back seat). She will need a forward facing car seat & my wife says it MUST be kept in the back seat for safety. Does anyone have a forward facing car seat that fits in the back seat of the 996? I went to babies-r-us and all the forward facing ones look too big. Let me know the make/model if you have one.

Thanks!

I suggest going with the Porsche units. I did find a car seat that fits: FisherPrice Safe Voyage Booster Seat -Model EF35B2A With cup holder that fits (not sure why I would want to keep that option in the car... but it works for putting a small toy in there... )

But my son is now 4 years old... Before this one we had the Porsche child seat.

I had to cut a piece of cardboard with the same size/shape as the seat area and take it with me to measure the child seats... almost gave up (and was going to buy another Porsche seat) until I found this one.

I have both the britax that porsche OEM'd(and don't make anymore) and a regular britax seat (don't recall the model) both fit in the back of my 03 996 easily.

Cheers,

I have a 6 month old that needs a rear facing seat for the back. What seat were you using?

Thanks!

I am using the Graco stroller/car seat combination unit. It's small enough it's no problem to fit in the back seat.

Britax makes rear facing and forward facing car seats and both fit the back of 996. I have a 2 year old and we use the britax roundabout forward facing model and before that we use the rear facing Britax

I'll add another plug for the Britax. My 3- and 5-year-olds seemed perfectly happy in their Britax Monarch seats in the back of our 2003 996. The seats come with cup holders on each side that need to be snapped off (easily but permanently done - they're not designed to snap off). The seats fit nicely.

However, for a 1 year old, I would recommend the Porsche seat with the lap cushion thingie. I have one of those that I used a bunch in the Boxster, but I wanted to get a matching pair of seats. Besides, the Britax can be converted to booster-only mode (bottom cushion).

At 6'2" I had to move my seat forward a few inches, but that's a sacrifice I am willing to make.

Hi - all - anyone know the rules in the US - can you have a seat in the back for a new born or does it need to be in the front? - anyone want to sell a seat for a new born - dont have kids yet - but its certainly on the agenda!!

Cheers

For the record, I've read on other boards that a Recaro young sport would fit, and who does not like a recaro seat ?

Well, it does not... Not even close ! I'm not returning it because I can swap with my wife's car seat (an eddie bauer, which fits the 996) and because it' s a really nice seat overall, but just so you know, don't buy one for the 996 !
