New brake pads with sensors?

Recommended Posts

Hi! I need to replace the front brake pads and I was wondering what parts need replacing besides the pads? I guess I need a couple of sensors as well? Is there a part number for the whole kit?

I was looking at www.eurocarparts.com and they say I need 4 dampening plates as well. Is this right?

Thanks in advance,

Michael

btw, the car is a Carrera 2 3.6 MY03 Cabrio

Even if the light did not come on... you should have 1 or 2 spare sensors on hand. My experience with MBZ is that the plastic surrounding the sensor gets brittle or it is sometimes hard to remove the sensor from the existing pad... and what a pain it is if you are in the middle of the job... with no spare sensor on hand....

(I have not had to do a brake job on my 996 yet...., so I speak from my MBZ experience only.)

The sensors are not terribly expensive, but after replacing a few that cooked after a few track days I just "tiw-wrapped" them to the brake fluid line and out of the pads.

I check the pads periodically, so no need to have the sensors go down to wire, so to speak. Just my opinion
