Hi,

I am ordering a new 997 S Cab from the US to ship and use in Japan (only reason is the waiting time, Porsche Japan told me at least 14 months!!!)

My question is, how difficult is it going to be for a decent shop to remove the PCM and get a Pioneer touch-screen HDD-based a/v navigation system connected? (BTW, those things are less than $2K over here now!) I have no concerns with regards to the actual fit, as there are several kits for that. My concern is getting the connections right for the Bose speaker system.

Thank you!

My understanding is that the BOSE sound upgrade has both a software and a hardware elements . The PCM or standard fit audio system has the BOSE amplifier and control software built into it , so if you remove the PCM i'm not sure you will be able to control the amplifier properly since it communicates via the MOST bus system.

Thank you! I guess I will have to look a little closer into this. I do believe that there are aftermarket solutions available over here, as the cars are not offered with with PCM, but with the Bose system.
