Nexen tires?

Anyone deal with Nexen tires? Thinking of putting 19's on MY03. From what I have read they are a decent tire and a whole lot cheaper then anything even close to the tread life/ traction and temp.

Just an idea. It is MY03 with 6100 miles. Thats how much she is driven. No track days. Just putting around town on weekends.

MY02 with just over 50 K miles had Nexen's put on about 600 miles ago. I use it to pick up the kids in the evenings and short drives around the city. They handle quite well both on city streets as well as the highway. Very quite and smooth. Sharp fast turns ( PSM kicking in ) so far leave me without suprise. I would get them again when the time comes.

Is hard to justify spending 11 or 1200 dollars on tires for the amount of use the car gets.

If you want to save some money on tires, try buying a good name brand, but with a lower speed rating. Just a thought.

Had thought of that White. But after researching speed ratings along with wear and temp limits, seems to me a tire is a tire.

A tire with AA traction is a tire with AA traction. Good year or BF Goodrich. The ratings don't lie. The wear rating for the exact Nexxen tire I am looking at is actually higher then all the "name brand" tires I have found.

I have Nexen tires on my 01 c2. Have not tracked the car so I cant compare. They are holding up very well with approx 3,000 miles on them.

I just had some Nexen N3000 installed on my for my rear tires this morning, since my Father works in the shop i was able to get them for $61.21 each. I believe they are a V rated tire or a Y.

Had the ZR rated Nexan installed a few weeks ago. Have only put 50 miles or so on them, but the few times it has been on the street I have run it out at 120-130 MPH and the held together nice. No floating feel. No sliding effect.

All in all not a bad tire.

Yes they are pretty nice, When my front tires get close to bald ill replace them with the same tires and get an alignment.

OOps, Just checked my tires, they are Z rated. $61.24 for Zrated Nexen Tires isnt a bad deal.

Looks like Nexen doesn't make a size 205/50-17 to go on the front of my 02 Boxster base. What would be a better alternative, 215/45-17 or 225/45-17? Or should I stick with the stock size and pick a different brand of tire?

whatever brand you get, 225/45/17 will reduce understeer, it is the recommended non-OEM size

Exactly to the point. Is a Boxster more likely to over- or understeer? In my short ownership experience, I have noticed a tendency to oversteer in turns, under aggressive power application. But that is different than properly setting up to enter and exit a turn at the highest speed.

Also, if it turns out that a Boxster would benefit from more tire meat in the front, would 225's fit ok on stock 17" rims?

a boxster is set up to initially understeer, as are most cars

it is possible to use the boxsters limited power to induce power on oversteer (but probably no drifting is possible)

or to just balance the car with the throttle (be careful, the boxster is also prone to snap oversteer if you let off the gas in a turn too)

most 225/45s will fit very easily
