It's been suggested that instead of having a separate oil pressure gauge installed randomly, a Carrera instrument cluster with the integral oil pressure gauge can be installed on a Boxster. And, it is rumoured that this DIY project has, in fact, been accomplished by someone on this board. Does anyone know the details? I've found just this one inconclusive thread: http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?s...pic=304&hl=

According to the thread, a dual output oil pressure transmitter is required to have both the low oil pressure light and the gauge operational; and the Carrera cluster uses the same plugs as the Boxster's. But are there any "gotchas" concerning the inner workings and hidden mechanisms talking to one another that coding/re-coding can't handle?

I was at a TSBL gathering last weekend in CT, one of the guys there has done this. He said all that was needed was to run a single wire from the cluster to the engine compartment and replace one sensor on the engine.
