My first car was a '74 911T and now I'm a Cayenne owner, but I my wife is driving my Cayenne while her Audi is geting some scratches fixed, and I've been driving my brothers $115K '06 SL 500.

I am proud to say (as a Porsche owner) that in a fast race down the parkway with a black 996 I was reminded what it means to be a Porsche guy. The car was in sport mode, and I had the pedal to the metal. If only my brother was there, it would have been fun to see him cry!

Hi,

A porsche is a fast car and a Mercedes is a status car. I wonder

if a SL500 AMG could make the difference?

Paul

I remember when he got it about 10 months ago- he went on and on about how much better it is: more reliable, higher resale, faster, more advanced, etc.

That Benz dealer really did his job well because he bought it- to the tune of $115K or so.

We both know that a Benz is a stautus car, but the guys I see driving them in Westchester County (metro-NYC suburb) think they are boy racers in their SL, SLK, CLK, and MLs.

To answer your question yes the AMG will make the difference. The AMG will be faster up to 155 miles per hour where it will hit its electronic brain kicks in and then you can catch back up. How do I know, Autobahn 6 this past weekend but it was fun!
