I have a 2000 Boxster(986) and was wondering if the the following would work in my car:

Part - PT#99664512906 - Porsche 911 996 BOXSTER CDR23 CD RADIO (even though it says 996)

I think the cdr23 is built off the most bus, being a 2000 I think you want a cdr22

CDR-23 was used for 2003-2004. There are 2 versions, with and without the external amp in the front trunk. The external amp version is the MOST fiber optic version and that will not work for you.

I think your part number is the version with an internal amp. I do not know if you can get that one to work.

personally, i wouldn't waste your time with a 'Porsche' (Becker) radio. they are crap for the most part. if you DO want to go with a Becker radio, i would get a CDR-220. this radio has AUX IN capability which will allow you to run your iPod through it. the other Becker radios do not have this feature (except the CDR-22, i think.)

best bet is a Nakamichi CD400, which looks very close to stock, is of much better quality, and has AUX IN for an iPod. check it out.
