Hi, the car (996 C2 my 2000) had been standing in the backyard of my house for six days (of course locked). Today I noticed that both windows are down and also the car is unlocked!!! Any idea of the reason? The humidity has been very high during the week and it has been raining almost every day. The battery is just six months old.

Thanks,

TV

It's happened to me in slightly different circumstances. I was at work and when I went to the car (2000 C4)to drive home I found it unlocked and both windows down. I phoned Porsche garage and left them confused. I realised later on that I had pressed the car key in my pocket against the side of the chair I had sat in and the radio signals from the key activated the unlocking of the door and beacause the pressure was applied for longer than a few seconds the windows also came down...My chair at work was in a room next to the car-park where my Porsche was parked. So I think you must have done something similar and there is nothing to worry about, really...Remember, these remotes work through radio rather than infra-red signals and you can activate the system from indoors...

You mean I can open the windows using my remote? I have a 2001 US version. What do you have?

On UK spec cars you can raise the windows (and close the sunroof) during locking by pressing and holding the remote button. Also you can open the windows when unlocking by holding the button. However, I would have thought that if you do this then the car would auto-lock after the set time if you don't open a door.

Now the car started to do it all the time!!! On friday I came home late and locked the car properly and absolutely not touched the keys afterwards, but in the morning again both windows were down and my Porsche was unlocked.

Then the next afternoon when I was driving both windows started simultaneously go down. I was alone in the car and both hands on the steering wheel.

And today I washed it, locked and after two minutes the windows sterted to go down. Now it has done it about seven times after locking the car and the intervals have changed between 2 to 20 minutes.

Any ideas to fix?

Thanks,

Do you have another remote key? Maybe take the battery out the suspect key and use the other one for a while. At least it would tell you if the fault is with the key remote or the alarm control unit. If that doesn't work, you need to get it checked with a PST2 to see if there are any faults stored in the memory.

Mine is a 2000 Carrera 4. Richard has already answered your query about actioning the windows through your remote, and he is spot on.

No Oggie, US cars don't do it, don't know why. But you can install an aftermarket part from Wilhelmi (sp?), look in the offers section. I do not have it but others in the forum do. Maybe someone who has it can chime in with their experience.
