GT3 Transmission Cooler

Recommended Posts

Since the GT3 has a cooler it must have a pump of some sort. Does the regular 996 transmission have cooling provisions? As prices of the 996 come down I am sure I will start to see more of these at club racing events/track days and any failure points will definitely come to light. If possible I too would like to see a diagram of the GT3 transmission cooling system.

The GT3 and 996 use very different transmissions -- so I doubt it.

Why? Do you think your transmission is over-heating?

Not so's I notice. I thought I saw a post somewhere that said it could be done. The transmission is out of my car for other reasons rights now. I'm just thinking about anything I can do while it is out.

The trick I used was to add the GT3 third radiator and connect it to the engine cooling system. That does nothing for the transmission but can really drop temps for the engine during track events and running on hot days.

IMHO unless you are running some 24 hour (or even 12 hour) distance race you don't likely need any transmission cooling.

Your humble opinion is probably right, but they do put it on the GT3 for a reason. I already have the third radiator, thank you!
