License Plate Lights - Out

Hey guys, I just replaced the 2 license plate light lenses and bulbs. I had noticed while under the car last week that both were cracked where the screws go in, a result of someone overtightening them. Both bulbs were burned out also. So today, when I popped the new ones in, which I was thinking was maybe the easiest thing I have ever done, they don't work! Grrr. What is going on here? Thanks.

Have you checked fuse A5 (top row 5th fuse from the left) - should be 15A.

I think there is also a connector in the engine compartment. Follow the wire(s) back from the lights and make the connector is clean and plugged in.

Yes, the fuse is OK. Checking the connectors now.

Holy smokes! The connector is unplugged, and fell down between the bumper cover and the heat shield, behind the license plate area. I think I might be taking off the bumper cover, what do you think? I don't have tools or hands small enough to get in there, retrieve it, and plug it back in.

* 1 hour later, all fixed. Thanks Loren. Here are a couple photos for reference in case someone else has this problem.

Question, I have same problem but have a 2001 and some stuff looks different. What you seem to be saying is the connectors are between the bumper and heat shield, so i need to take both off. Is that correct.

Bumper cover yes, heat shield no. Mine was just hanging in between the two, disconnected. The good news is the bumper cover is very easy to take off and put back on.
