Key Fob Remote Control Doesn't Work Anymore?

I bought my '06 997S last April, and it came with two "real" keys and a valet key. Well, the remote on real key #1 failed after about a month; by that, I mean that the remote control lock/unlock/open the hood function didn't work anymore. The light on the key would still illuminate when I pressed the buttons on the key fob, though. But still no response from the car. Consequently, to use key #1, I would have to physically put the key in the door lock to unlock and lock the door.

I just assumed the battery was dead. I then switched to using key #2. That worked well for the past few months, but now I'm experiencing the same problems as key #1. The remote simply doesn't work. The light on the key turns on, but not response from the car.

Could it be that both key fobs have dead batteries? How is that possible on a four-month old car?

Any thoughts on how to fix this? Thanks in advance.

P.S. The car is not in "standby mode." The car did not go a few days without being started; I drive this car every day.

Maybe Porsche bought a lot of batteries from the same place Dell and Apple did.

Seriously, I'd put a new battery in #1 and see if that lasts. Good luck!

If battery on fob blinks the LED on it do the following:

Open the car with the other key.

Insert the fob not working into ignition switch and turn it on, but not starting car, but just as you would to check oil.

Once on, hit the "unlock door" button on fob in ignition switch.

It now should respond. :thumbup:

Mine did the same thing not working even after replacing battery. Found this fix just by testing a few things, then it worked and has worked both unlock door and trunk.

Just tried the key in the ignition switch and unlock the doors.

Key works fine know.

This didn't work for me. :help:

I lost my fully-working fob and now I have only the one with the non-working remote.

I replaced the fob battery (after which I tested the old battery; its voltage is still good). The fob LED blinks when a button is pressed.

I tried reversing the fob battery polarity -- turning the battery over -- for about 15 sec. as advised in another thread, but that didn't help.

I'm having the same problem! Neither fob will lock the car I think in my case it's one of the door locked micros witches though. This was initially identified by the battery being flat every time I went to use the car. I don't normally lock the car in my garage and didn't realize that the interior lights did not fade to off. Upon replacing the battery (!) and still having the same problem I realized that the car will not lock using the fob and the interior lights stay on. When I manually lock the car lights go out . If I turn the key anti clockwise twice I get either 1 or 2 'beeps'. How do I know which door microswitch is causing the problem and is it L/H or R/H?

Any advice would be most appreciated

Had the same problem, battery was flat replaced it and the remote keys didn't work , spoke with Porsche who were no help whatsoever just wanted me to book the car in, blow that so I investigated put the key in don't turn it just press the key fob to open the doors. And wait for a bleep , job done , repeat for other key very simple but obviously a Porsche money making secret 997 turbo 2007

Are you sure the car hadn't simply gone in to 'sleep' mode? This happens after about 7 days iirc, and the remote control shuts down to save energy. Lifting the door handle is usually enough to wake the system up.
