Sirius Install in 996 - C4S

Anyone had success in installing a Sirius system in a C4S?

I am looking for suggestions on antenna placement and a good location for the unit so I can take it out of the car easily.

I do not have Nav.

I couldn't find an acceptable location, so I got a new H/U with sirius built in - pioneer & clarion make good units. Had to put antenna on the upper far right corner of dash, just below windshield. I wanted it out of site, but everywhere else disrupted reception. I have a cab so my choices were limited, but I've seen a couple coupe owners use the rear deck.

If you want it out of sight you can install it under the plastic trim piece between the windshield and the hood. There's a rubber grommet above the brake and gas pedals that you can run the wiring thru. This is a pretty good location for reception, but not quite as good as on the dash. If you don't care about it being hidden, then you can remove the front dash speaker, run the wiring thru that opening, reinstall the speaker, and put the antenna just behind the "pod" for your gauges so you won't see the antenna when you're driving. It will also blend in real well with the black speaker so it's not very noticable. Great reception in this location.

I installed mine under the front bumper cover. It is completely invisible and it works well. It is clearly a bit more work, but it seems to have no "shadow" effects, and gets as good reception as another car that I drive that has a factory install on the roof.

That's a great idea for true stealth install. I don't know how big your Sirius guys antennas are but I mounted my XM antenna on the dash underneath of a small plastic cover in the center of the dash. Popped off easily and there is a small metal tab that the magnet stuck to. I then ran the wire down into the dash.

I don't have any suggestions for the Sirius processor though. I got sick of wires all over the previous car so I upgraded my head unit to an Alpine XM ready unit.

I installed mine on the dash, placing it behind the speaker (passenger side). The antenna is relatively small and colored black, so it really doesn't show much. I'm pretty anal, and it doesn't bother me at all. Also, I wedged the wire between the rubber of the door seal to the seem of the dash, then ran the wire in the seem across the bottom of the glove box right to the stereo. Easy and hidden.
