Just bought a sport exhaust on E-bay. The brand name is unknown but it came off of a '98 and it appears to be pretty snazzy. Looking to get it installed on my '02 2.7 here in the Bay Area, can anyone recommend a shop with experience? I live in Pacifica, so somewhere on the Peninsula would be best.

Thanks in advance,

Marcus

There is RMG in Sunnyvale that puts on Boxster tech sessions.

There is a August 19th at FastLane in Santa Cruz and Tim works on Boxsters. We should be done by noon and if you can make it you might ask Tim if he has the time to put your muffler on.

Also, a 2.5 muffler mounts differently than a 2.7 so you should make sure that thing will go on your 2.7.

The muffler is not difficult to replace, if you have some simple mechanical ability. I replaced mine with a sport muffler (not the electronic kind) and only took a few hours, including cleaning. There are many good write-ups on the board on how to do it. Find a friend with tools and have a go.

jmatta - I see you've got the sport exhaust that dude in Germany has been selling. How do you like the sound? Any resonance? I've heard great things about this set-up.

I've done some runs with guy named Pedro from South Florida, and having been behind him under full throttle, I can say it sounds pretty darn nice. He used a smaller diameter pipe than you've got.

Thanks!

I have that same exhaust, and I recommend it. There is no resonance, nor droning - and I am very picky about that. With the top up and the windows closed, there is very little difference in sound level inside the cabin, which is nice for long drives. With the top down, it is a nice sound inside the car, and quite impressive from outside the car.

My girlfriend (who is not into cars and drives an SUV, argh) commented "Did you change something on the car? It sounds nice".

Pelican Parts is offering a Dansk Sport exhaust for under $500...this is the same unit Fabspeed offers for much more. I had one of these on order for two and a half months, then finally bought the german modified one from Alex911s. Go to the Pelican 986 board and you will find the link. No personal interest; just thought somebody would appreciate a good deal.

Thanks for the tip. I just bought one this morning. Last one according to the inventory update. $500 including shipping and tax (California) is a nice price.

:drive: :P :drive: :P
