Well, I woke up this morning, went outside and found my new 987 has been vandalized. Some :censored: has taken a knife to the top and made an approx. 2 foot cut through the canvas top and through the foam insulation. Does anyone know where or even if something like this can be reapired? Does the top need to be replaced? Any insight into cost? Thanks very much for any info.

I don't think this can be fixed. It would like like hell if it was...like a huge scare!

I bet the dealership will charge about $4,500 to replace.

your ins co should pay for it. it's a full replacement top. insist on getting it done by a dealer w factory top. chances are, your top will be cut again so find a garage or use a car cover. get some motion sensor lights if possible.

Insuarnce company will cover it under your comprehensive coverage. You'll just have to pay the deductible. This is the reason I have a $100 deductible on my Boxster.

Whatever you do, MAKE SURE YOU GET AN OEM TOP! I'm the second owner of an '04S, and even though I knew the top had been replaced--also due to vandalism--I learned a few months after I bought it that it wasn't OEM and that my dealer wouldn't warranty it.

It has been nothing but trouble. The cables were too tight, lots of connections were stripped, the interior liner is always coming out on the front or back, and now the glass window is starting to separate from the canvas. My choices are to replace it for $4K at the dealer or learn how to do my own work for $1,800. Not a happy camper about it.
