I have this AudioPilot option and I am trying to figure out what it does! I have read the manual, but I have yet to hear any differences with the system on and off (except for some random adjustment it makes to bass and treble by itself)

The only difference I have noticed is that some times when the audiopilot option is switched on, the radio increases the volume by itself until it becomes really loud and I have to switch it off to stop it from blowing up.

Yes, this is what the manual says as well. However I have noticed that it does not do this properly, and it seems to change the tone settings as well (not just volume).

Is it just me, or do others think AudioPilot simply does not work?

I have asked this question on several forums and can get no real answer. The audiopilot (AP) feature on my 04 Cab is nothing more than a gimmick. It does very little other than a somewhat arbitrary increase in volume when I don't want it. I leave the AP feature turned off. Honestly I would have prefered to have the GAL that my 01 Bosxter had over AP. The GAL feature did a pretty good job inincreasing the volume as a function of speed and would decrease it also when I slowed down. It worked well for top down driving.

Just disable AP and you will be better off.
