  1. I am posting this hoping it will benefit someone. I have a 2003 996 c2 cab. Recently the brake lights went out. After screwing with the brake pedal switch, I discovered that it needed to be replaced. Manually depressing switch with my finger showed that this was an intermittent problem. The interesting part of this is that I found that when the switch went out, neither the hazard flashers nor the cruise control would work. After replacing the switch, all these problems resolved. The switch is in a hard to reach location {of course}. While I could visualize the switch by lying on my back in the driver's side footwell, I had no room to manipulate. After a couple of hours of frustration and cursing, I found that I could manipulate and change the switch by sitting in the driver's seat and blindly removing and replacing the switch.
  2. Hi Porsche Gurus I’m trying to troubleshoot a little issue I have that just my drivers door courtesy lights (and drivers sunvisor light but not sure if that’s different issue) don’t work, both the red and white ones and only the one door(rhd car) now ive checked the common things like all the fuses and the wiring to see if they were damaged or corroded but they seem fine, The one thing I would like to check but can not find any info on is where or what is the switch or sensor that tells the lights that the door is open to turn the lights on? If I can find that then that will at least eliminate all manual fixes that I can think of unless any of you have come across this before, if it’s something simple and I look like a fool for not thinking of it then I’m happy to be a fool as long as the lights work:) any help would be much appreciated thanks Stevie G
  3. Hi Guys. I am new to the forum and proud new owner of a beautiful 06 Cayenne S. I love my new Porsche, but am slowly working on fixing a few minor issues... First of all, my driver door latch is defective or at least the switch in there is. The vehicle never knows when the driver door is open, no dome lights or door ajar switch or chime. I have already purchased a brand new replacement latch assembly. Any instructions or tutorials on the fastest and easiest way to replace this? Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks!
  4. I'm a proud new owner of a 1999 C4. Love the car. However, my blinkers don't work and I recently replaced the hazard relay, but still nothing. I noticed that hazard switch, when I press it, it does not click nor change position. My next move was to replace this switch, but I first wanted to be sure that the switches normal behavior is to indeed click, or changes positions, when you press it? Sounds like a stupid questions, but I thought I would check with one of you have a working switch.
  5. I'd like to turn on the radiator fans at about a temperature that's 10 degrees cooler than what they currently turn on at. Is there a way to do that? Different temp switch? Reprogramming one of the computers? If reprogramming, can the Durametric Enthusiast do the job or is the Pro needed? Or some other available tool?
  6. Hey all, I have an intermittent issue with a convertible top on a 2003 Boxster. After the car has sat for over a week the convertible top won't go up or down via the switch on the dash. Thanks to the great advice on these forums I was able to eliminate a lot of potential problems (parking break dash light, micro switches, blown fuses). Then I came to some suggestions involving the relay panel and, sure enough, if I pull a relay and put it back in, the convertible top switch on the dash works again. What I can't figure out is why this works. It seems like I'm pulling the wrong relay? I 'borrowed' this pic from another thread because the relay panel looks the same as mine. Everything I've been reading says that the convertible top relay is the long rectangular white box. However, when I pull the smaller white box to the right of it and put it back in, the one with the blue sides (see pic below), the top works again. In case anyone can't see it from the above, here's another pic... The relay I pull to get the top to work again is the one to the right of the yellow outline: Does anyone know why the top works by pulling the wrong box, to the right of what should be the convertible top relay? What is this relay, and if I replace it would it alleviate the issue?
  7. Can anyone tell me how to remove the headlight switch on my 2005 CTT. I read you push in and turn counter clockwise, and it pops out. That does not seem to work. Any thoughts.
  8. I am experiencing a starter delay with my 2003 Boxster S 6 speed. Key turns normally from O through start. Emergency brake is on, clutch is depressed, and shifter is in neutral. Battery is new. All my idiot lights come on. Sometimes it will start immediately as normal. Other times have to turn key to off position then try again. Sometimes have to hold switch in start postion 10-15 seconds. Car will always start but sometimes takes as many as 5 trys. I have replaced the electical portion of the ignition switch and continue to have the same problem. Any ideas
  9. Hi. How do I test the main light switch and the low/high lever switch to determine which has a problem. The headlights low and high beams do not work on either side.
