  1. Hey everyone, I am trying to find a possible solution to this and need your help! 2004 Boxster S, 125k miles. Driven DT 5W-40 oil. No other issues and drives great. BUT, whenever the car is warmed up and I stop at a traffic light or something, at idle, there is this rhythmatic ticking noise, and especially loud when there is a car beside me (I guess sound wave bouncing off of them or something). This noise, however, goes away completely with the slightest rev increase, say 800 (idle) to 900 or 1000. But returns again after I let off the accelerator pedal. https://youtu.be/DyiW3X4JVJ4?si=YGRwD6nPx-vAXeb2 No misfire or anything, no ticking noise when car is cold and idling. I've seen posts suggesting this is lifter and using Liqui Moly Hydraulic Lifter Additive could help? Oh, and I have replaced all 6 spark plugs but that didn't resolve this. I would really appreciate any help! I might try the lifter additive anyways if there's no harmful side effects. Thank you.
  2. 1441 would be on and Is stuck open. Gas mileage is horrible. Like crazy horrible. Do I replace the solenoid or the valve? And also there is a code for open circuit between radio and antenna 2? . And my key fob signal only works when it's right at the key hole? Before it starts when the fake key in the key hole but now I have to insert the key to start. And reverse camera and sensor don't come on but when I check with obd tool it says no problem with the sensors but communication is not made to the reverse camera. 2017 macan gts
  3. Hello Renntech Community. Hope everyone has had a lovely day/ evening. Well... After owning 2 previous porsche's there is no doubt we all run into A LOT of issues. I have an 04 Boxster S with 117K miles on her. Well taken care of, just recently had an oil change. While driving my car on the interstate i felt a drag in the acceleration. It felt like the clutch was slipping but after driving it a little more it cleared up... (Previously was an oil leak, I tightened the drain plug and added more oil prior to this incident and all was well) Then, while driving the car would accelerate any more, I attempted to downshift but it kept happening. The car died after I pulled off on the highway and after continuous hours of attempting and failing I called a flat bed and had her taken home. I ran tests on the relay, All is well with it. I added gas and a octane booster to attempt to clean it out. That didnt work. Checked fuses and those are all good. I suspect a fuel pump but Im not sure. Thank you! - Hopefully this is all enough information to help me out - Denali
  4. Hi all, just purchased a 1961 notchback 1600s, I have never drove a Porsche until the day I purchased this car, got the bug now and i love Porsches more than ever now, the car is in very good shape, but i want to change all the fluids, grease all the parts, and do all the maintenance there is, the oil was so dark when I checked the level and it was all the way to max line of the stick, i would appreciate if you guys can tell me where to buy all the maintenance parts, and where can I buy the shop manual, and what are the things I should do, there is a small leak on the floor from engine very small, but a palm size of oil from transmission on the ground, thanks guys cheers😁
  5. The left door key switch on my 00’ 996 c4 will not lock or unlock. I took the handle and bracket out of the door frame. I was told what usually breaks is the cylinder but nothing appears to be broken. I don’t want to buy a new key so simply replacing the bracket isn’t an option. Is there a straight forward solution or do I need a specialist?? Any my feedback would be much appreciated thanks!
  6. I have a 2004 Cayenne S. I just got it recently, interior lights have never worked. I checked the fuse and it was blown. It calls for a 20 amp fuse but the blown one in it was a 25 amp. I had the key in the ignition if I remember correctly and put the new 20 amp fuse in and everything came on. Side note, I noticed a weird glitch with the light above the rear passenger side door and the switch on the main map reading light. The interior lights had gone off and I turned the back on and the backlight above to passenger side door was very dim. I slid the switch on the overhead console for the main map light and the rear light came back to full strength. I found that odd. Everything then worked fine. I took the key out. Next time I put the key in, immediately heard the fuse blow. Any ideas on where to start?
  7. I found this 12mm high tensile steel bolt lying loose under the driver's seat (RHD) - can anyone identify it? Its 122mm long overall, has a 55 Torx head and some rubber tube over part of the thread. It looks like it should be holding something important together! Ive only owned the car a short time and not noticed any rattles or vibrations - except a timing chain rattle on start up which disappears within 2 sec. Its a 2000 model Boxster S with 138 000km.
  8. Hi guys, I'm new to the site so please be patient with me? (Also grammar isn't my strong point) So, I've owned my 2003 996 carrera for the past 2 years and for the most part its been trouble free. I got it with 110,000 miles its now got 130,000. Maybe 5-6 times over the last year it's started misfiring as I come to a stop, it starts up after maybe 2 minutes and misfires for 30-40seconds, then runs fine. The last two times this has happened the display has said low oil pressure as it's been misfiring, but then starts running normally with no message? Any how just before Christmas I started the car as normal and left it ticking over but got held up,so it was probably idling for 40mins. I heard a loud misfiring sound and it cut out. I thought it had run out of fuel so I put a gallon in and it went up to a quarter. I tried starting it but it turns over but won't start. I have since had it towed in to a garage and they have plugged the computer into it and no faults are showing. Can anyone help as the garage isn't to sure? Thanks in advance Mileet P.S. it's a triptronic
  9. Can someone direct me to where I can find the radio code for a 2001 boxster s. Type radio 4462. Serial be446215061517. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  10. Hi All, I am a new owner of a slightly modified 2003tt and love it. I bought it about 2 months ago and just last month the check engine light came on. I went and bought the durametric entusiast cable (which I read about here - thanks to everyone) and read a p1145. I watched the o2 sensors while the car was running and they seem good (voltage fluctuating and both bank 1 and bank 2 seem to have simular readings.) I did notice the sensors after the cat have spacers. (PPI didn't state that and I didn't know a thing about it until reading forums). Anyway a long story short I was reading the maintenance records of the car and noticed one mentioned a small crack in the aftermarket header (oh yeah techart headers and exhaust and I believe k24 turbos and GIAC flashed) - anyway I looked and in the collector of the bank 1 header it looked like a small black line which I assumed might be the crack. Would a crack in the header cause a P1145? Any other good checks? Car seems to run fine but rich at startup. Lots of power. Any help would be great! Thanks all!
  11. Hi, I would like to install a double dinn stereo into my 2001 Boxster, but before I start with that, i'll need to relocate the AC controls to the lower console. I have seen other do this and relocate it to the lowest section (usually taken up by the storage caddy), but i would like to move it to the slot above that where the 4xCD dispenser is. Has this been done and are there instructions of how to go about doing it.
  12. hey guys, this is my first post in hopes of coming to a conclusion, i currently have a 1998 porsche boxster with tiptronic transmission, the following problems are as follows. 1.when in parking the car doesnt stop 2.when in automatic drive car doesnt go to 3rd gear it jumps from 2nd to safe mode with a big kick 3.when left on first gear in manual mode car exhaust sound gets louder, and when letting of the gas does big kick to safe mode 4.when the car is turned on and switched to manual the tiptronic controls only lets me move up to 2nd gear. i was thinking it was the transmission ecu but it wasnt, i have tried 2 other ecu's one with the exact serial codes as the original (besides actual ecu serial) and still same problem Might it just be the transmission itself? if so where can i buy rebuild parts? and guide on how to. I really need to get this figured out any advice would be helpful, thank-you for your time :)
