  1. Are you the first owner? Could be a tracking device...like LoJack...for theft recovery.
  2. I would skip both, and go right to the 993TT. Market is great right now for cash buyers.
  3. How longs does it last? What oil are you using? Viscosity?
  4. Loose hose clamp or an entire hose. Can you get under the car and get a "look/see"?
  5. I think you could just snake a length of thin plastic tubing down the filler neck, and siphon out 1-2 cups of oil. This would probably be easier than going under, and draining any out. I think one bar is equal to about 8 ounces of oil.
  6. $5K...that's pretty low. Maybe eBay or LA Dismaterlers or Oklhoma Foreign.
  7. This old post may prove helpful too: http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?s...p;hl=hood+crest
  8. 1) The surfaced needs to be slightly "etched" so you get good adhesion 2) Primer coat 3) 2-3 coats of quality paint 4) Clear coat 5) Let the paint really "cure" before you put the windstop back in, especially the plastic grill/vents.
  9. Ok, so you have 450 HP right now (you lucky bugger! :) ) and you want 80 more (if that is really possible) to do exactly what?..................
  10. Buy some RejeX wax and put that on your bumper. Not much can stick to that finish. Bugs on the front bumper (almost) wash off with just the hose water.
  11. But I think they painted it in-place with lots of masking and plastic tarps.
  12. I do know the convertible top has to be partially removed too. I think the roll bar is bolted-in in about 4-5 places. I have seen estimates from quality paint shops that exceed $1,200 to do the job. The factory painted roll bar is about a $550 option.
  13. I still think a yearly oil change makes a lot of sense.
  14. How many miles have you done since the brake job?
  15. The only problem Red Line is not on the Porsche approved list and not sure it meets the Europeon spec. Hi Kevin, I never suggested it was on Porsche's "list". Did you read through the link? Good stuff in there. I don't have knowledge of the Europe spec's. Sorry.
  16. This is a great read about oils: http://www.lnengineering.com/oil.html I use Red Line 5W40.
  17. Ever since my car was new, and every time I wash it (2-4 times per month) I take the leaf blower, and blow out the front radiators. Lots of crap comes flying out each time. I do this dry, prior to washing, when everything is dry and again after the area has been wet, and a little more stuff works out. This works for me. Might not work for other owners who are starting out with a dirty or clogged radiator. Just an FYI.
  18. Buy your filters from our site sponsor- Sunset Porsche. Great pricings and service. 503-641-8600. I sure hope the Lube Guys know the proper torque settings for the drain plug, and the filters. Are they going to be willing to wait around about 30 minutes for the last drips of oil to come out?
  19. How old is the battery? Do you use a battery maintainer? FYI- a 4 year old battery for a Porsche is usually considered "OLD". They eat batteries!
  20. Nice car, congrats! 1) Clutch should not make noise or rattle. 2 & 3) ? 4) No hard braking for about 200 miles should be fine. Keep the RPM's below 4,200 for the first 2,000 miles, change the oil (I recommend an early change), and then go to redline as often as you like and as often as your wallet can afford. Don't lug the engine and don't cruise for hours in the same gear, same RPM range and same speed during break-in period...upshift and downshift.
