  1. Henry, you really do NOT need the switch! Save the money and buy beer & gas!
  2. The key with our convertible tops is not to wash them with any soaps. You should use just water and when dry, run the sticky tape over it. It's the soaps that kill the fabric. Covered parking helps a ton too.
  3. did you buy raggtop for vinyl or raggtopp for cloth, there seems to be two version of raggtopp. thanks We have cloth tops.
  4. Are you running stock tires sizes? Have you played with slight tire pressure adjustments?
  5. I have found the 987 oil gauge to be very-very accurate. I have never had to add oil between oil changes. In my first year I did about 7,500 miles and last year I did 10,000 miles. Never adding oil. This is a good thing. And I contribute part of this good fortune to a properly broken in engine per Porsche's recommended procedure.
  6. I sure hope this does not happen to me, in the longterm. I'd be very upset about buying a potential $2,300 rattle!
  7. If your car is a CPO'd, I'd keep hounding the dealership to replace the PSE under warranty. This was one (of the many) reasons I selected to add the PSE on my car last year. Because it would be covered with the remainder of the new car warranty, since I purchased it through Tequipment and was dealer installed. It's not like there are a lot of "movingp parts" on an exhaust. So I wonder what could be damaged, and how it got damaged. Possibly one of the bypass valves (not sure the exact name) is damaged on that side. What could cause damage? A backfire? Just throwing out other stuff to consider.
  8. There are more than 3 segments on the 987 oil gauge. So, how can yours be stuck on the third? If so, then your car is LOW on oil, not overfilled. Each segment is equal to approximately 8 ounces of oil. So, adjust accordingly.

  10. markradogna, here is a very small detail, but it IS all about the details right!! If the 997 PSE is anything like the 987 PSE you need to "cap" the vacuum line inlet with something on the exhaust to prevent stuff (dirt) getting sucked into it. The dealership did this to mine last year when they did the install. Just an FYI.
  11. If you need to add fluid, top off with distilled water. Check for coolant under the rear trunk's carpet. You may have a cracked overflow tank. Very common.
  12. This old thread will help you: http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?s...sew+rear+window
  13. Yes, the rear window can be repaired with a new sew in procedure.
  14. The stuff you mention are simple Do It Yourself projects (DIY). And I would say "update" is a better and more accurate word than "convert". Look for parts at www.carnewal.com for your part of the World.
  15. Did you dyno your car before and after the exhaust change? Are you sure about the 20 FWHP?
  16. I think you can mitigate a lot of the first year deprecation by skillfully negotiating an equitable purchase price.
  17. I don't think this is correct. They can't void the entire warranty, unless they can prove the aftermarket exhaust caused the RMS to fail. I suggest you start a new thread, so we can discuss this more in detail.
  18. I think the PSE is great. But, if FabSpeed was not loud enough for you, then you might not like it. You might want something that is more for a track set-up but it won't be street legal due to noise restrictions.
  19. FYI. Most people recommend an oil change after the use of a fuel system cleaner.
  20. It is a great time to be buying "toys" if you are a CASH buyer. Not so much fun being on the sell side of the value proposition.
  21. It is a buyers market for a 996TT. There are a ton for sale, and the prices are falling almost daily. This is a great time for cash buyers to purchase luxury/toy items.
  22. Become a Contributing Member, and then PM your VIN number to Loren. He will then send you a great report.
