  1. Perfect Power in Buffalo Grove. 847-465-8837
  2. No radio sound or no CD sound? Both? Was the car parked in the hot sun?
  3. Correct. Please Save Me....or Porsche Save Me button. It will automatically turn back on in servere situations.
  4. Make sure you work in a well ventilated area. Don't want a boooom!
  5. Hobofob, they are about $2,600-2,800. See here for example: http://e-partssales.com/Merchant2/merchant...y_Code=996seats For better pricing look at www.sunsetimports.com.
  6. Before and after (dry first, then wet) everytime I wash my car, I use my leaf blower to clean out the front radiators. Works great. I use it to dry the car off too.
  7. Thanks, Kevin. I talked to Charles this afternoon. He will review his data, and make changes as required. He thinks he possibly double converted the value for the Mobil 0W40. You were correct.
  8. Kevin, you still have it wrong. You need to read through the link. The 5W50 value is already converted at 4.22. 4.22 is lower than 4.35 (old match and new math!). This is one of the well known pit falls of an oil with a large range.
  9. Kevin, did you read throught the link (long...I know!). Here is an excerpt from Mr. Navarro: "I have included the HTHS viscosity - Mobil 1 0w40 is 3.7 cP (3.7cP * 1/.85 specific density = 4.35 actual HTHS in cSt; using the estimate of 14 * .322 yields an estimated 4.50 HTHS, which is off by only 3.4%). If there is a ~ in front of the HTHS, then it's estimated by taking the viscosity at 100C * .322 (this conversion has an R^2 value of 94%). If the actual HTHS was not available, I have shown the estimated value range for the HTHS. All the below oils have Porsche Approval and meet ACEA A3/B3 specifications. The Mobil 1 0w40 is shown for reference only and is not my oil of choice." So, as you can see, there is a conversion factor that is used for the proper comparison. You are not using apples-to-apples data. This is where you are going wrong.
  10. No need to re-check. I stand by my comment too. My source is Charles Navarro, LN Engineering, dated 7/26/08. What is your source? http://www.lnengineering.com/oil.html
  11. NOT TRUE! KevinMac, I was going to make the switch to Mobil's 5W50 until I looked at the HTHS (cSt) numbers. The 5W50 is a 4.22 vs. a 4.35 for the OW40. So, it looks like the 5W50 has a lower high-temperature high-shear viscosity than the 0w40. I think this is the downfall of an oil with a large range like a 5W50. I use 5W40 Red Line. The HTHS viscosity is over 5.
  12. If you can hear the tires...you need a louder exhaust! :D
  13. GT3 seats will help. But they are more narrow and $$$. Buy a 997...more leg room.
  14. I have PS2's on my 987S and I found them to be be excellent for noise....new....and after 20,000 miles.
  15. No, it is for a metal contact point on the radio inside the dash.
  16. Mystery solved. I was wondering why people were asking about beeping. Mine always beeped, but now I realize that was due to the third party radio that was installed when I bought the car. Bolobar, I think you can fix this with a (get ready for this!!!!!).............. ........... .................... ............................ a piece of tape! Send ToolPants a PM for advice.
  17. Leave a storage bin open or change-out your OEM radio! :)
  18. I got 20k on my first set of tires, Pilot Sports. I now have PS2's on my 2006 987S. They are great, but I don't see any difference (yet) vs. the PS.
  19. Maybe true, but brakes are still cheaper to replace, then engine wear.
  20. You would be wrong. It uses less fuel. You're correct in saying that engine braking, in conjunction with the brakes, is the correct and safe way to go down a hill. It doesn't damage the engine whatsoever. John, but he (JeTexas) does not say "in conjunction with...".
