  1. 2 more thoughts: Have you considered car in$urance in your ownership proposition? What if you are out at a bar, after classes, and meet 2 hot chicks. And both girls want to go home with you. What are you going to do with a two-seater sportscar?
  2. A Porsche in a college enviroment is asking for trouble. Think vandalism. Enough said. No garage....no Porsche. Be patient. Your day will come. :)
  3. I may need to do this too. Under warranty. I have one small nick near the fan speed switch.
  4. You'll be fine. That's not really a long time. Go on a long road trip, and buy fresh gas.
  5. No I did not. Car was bought as a project. I figured if I bought an old chevy I would be working on it too. Car was well priced. Good for you. Sounds like you can turn your own wrentches. I only know how to turn the ignition key. :)
  6. I would think if you properly drive (no over-revs) and maintain the car, the CPO would replace your engine if you suffered an IMS failure.
  7. suburban99, did you get a Pre Purchase Inspection (PPI)?
  8. Good call. You will need to "cap off" the vacuum lines that are part of the PSE, so dirt is not sucked into the exhaust. My dealership just just some type of rubber caps. The advantage of having it in Sport mode at all times is that it works when driving at lower speeds.
  9. Randall, you do not need to intergrate into the DME (correct term, not an ECU for Porsche). It will be in Sport mode at all times.
  10. Congrats on your Boxster! Lots of good info here. Read a lot and use the "search" features. Also, send in a donation, and become a Contributing Memeber, and get more access.
  11. Use OEM filters, and at least change the oil yearly, regardless of mileage.
  12. I too live in Illinois. Hate the front plate law. I have never used the front plate yet. Got my first warning ticket last year. Fingers crossed. Not a DD. I will consider State Laws regarding the front plate in the coming years, when I select my retirement State!
  13. Use the ReJex on your headlights too. Yes, you can wax the side vents. In the future, make you own window cleaner with 1 part denatured alcohol (hardware store) and 2 parts distilled water, mixed in a spray bottle. Spray a clean, white, 100% terry cloth towel, clean the glass, and then dry & buff with a diffent white towel. Zaino is great stuff.
  14. Sucks. Replace the tire. Cost of ownership. Your car can do well over 160 MPH. Better safe than sorry. People are counting on you.
  15. Hi Loren. Really? I was planning to this on my 2006 987S this summer as preventive maintenance. What should I do?
  16. $600.00 for AC and air filter? That's freaking crazy money!
  17. Color test a small, hidden spot, before you start rubbing on your leather dash. Just a word of caution.
  18. I love the Michellin PS2's on my 987S. But, it sounds like you have some unusual road conditions. Lots of opinions on tires.
  19. Great discussion Berty987 and Wolverine. You guys are very knowledgable. I have learned a lot form this post. I love my Sport Chrono. Don't love the dash wart. This was the single hardest option to select during the "build phase" of my custom order. Very hard to see the value of this option during a test drive when shopping for the car. I decided to "just get it" because the option was not too expensive (in Por$che terms! About $920 IIRC) and did not want to have buyers remorse. Plus, it can't be added later through Tequipment, like sport exhause for example.
  20. Ragg Topp here too. Also, do not use soap on your top when washing after Ragg Topp treatment. The soaps just attract dirt. Only wash with a stream of water. When dry, use a stickey tape roller to keep the top clean.
  21. Be careful of potentail "droan" issues when selecting a louder exhaust.
  22. I followed the break-in process as stated exactly in the Owner's Manual. And I did an oil change at about the 1/2 way mark for extra insurance.
  23. CD's sound great, with the Bose system for sure in the 987S. My radio works great too. The PSE sounds the best, though.
  24. Not quite sure what you are saying here... you think I need to set money aside because you think these numbers are so bad I'm looking at some serious engine work down the road ?? Do you have any experience of these numbers leading to such an outcome ? I think you are fine, but what happens when you "start tuning the car" and put the engine under additional stress? What happends to those leakdown values then? All I was saying, is if I were looking to buy a car, and did a PPI and got your values, I'd take a pass and look for another car with a narrower range from the leakdown values.
