  1. There are soooooo many 911s for sale right now, why feel "pressured" to buy one with 10,000 track miles. I would not waste the money on a PPI. Keep looking. Should you go see the car, and test drive it? Sure. Pay money for a PPI? I think not, IMHO. Patience. You will find the right car for you! :)
  2. I agree with RFM. I have been doing this for 3 winter hibernations. Plus, that alarm stays active.
  3. Charlie, just curious, why didn't the instructions in the owner's manual work?
  4. If you properly wax your wheels. all you need to clean them is hot soapy water. I don't like using wheel cleaners. They are expensive and may harm the wheel's finish.
  5. I agree about the impact on cooling. Plus, it is cool seeing our rotors and calipers through the wheel openings. Use RejeX wax on your wheels. This will help your brake dust problem. Blow dry your wheels, after washing, with the leaf blower.
  6. My biggest concern would be stone/rock damage, either by driving or towing on an open trailer. Look into one of the covered car shipping companies. Even FedEx offers this service, and I have heard good reports about their service & pricing.
  7. Could be a dirty position selecter switch on the tranny, too.
  8. I have bought several times from Sunset, and have asked them many more questions over the years. They are great to work with, and help the Porsche ownership experience a ton.
  9. There may be an old code stored in the Homelink too, and this should be deleted before you try to train the Porsche to the Genie door. The newer garage door openers with the rolling code (learn function/button) can be a little tricky to program.
  10. quinby1, what color are you doing? Eric does great quality work. You will be pleased.
  11. This information is also in your 987 Owner's Manual on (about) page 218. You have read your owner's maunal...right? ;)
  12. You should have changed the oil prior to winter storage. You want to remove potential contaminants and moisture prior to a period of storage. And "starting it up a few times" does absolutely nothing but add more harmful moisture to the oil. There is some excellent advice here on the Forum regarding winter storage, and you should read those old threads.
  13. This may help you too: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/CompareTireR...&loadRank=2
  14. Michellin PS2's are not a run flat tire.
  15. I think this is the very first time this word has ever been used on the Forum. Very cool! :)
  16. Those **** "drifters" get all the hot chicks! :)
  17. Whatever you decide, don't skimp, and make sure you purchase the longer wheel bolts too.
  18. There are a ton of privacy laws in the USA, so dealerships and indys are very tight lipped about this type of information. Maybe things are different in Europe. I would suggest calling indy shops in the area the car "lived", if you know, and ask the shop keeper if they ever worked on the car based off of the VIN number. Worth a few calls if you can find out.
  19. Ciaranmac1, what oil are you running? Have you ever used an oil additive? Next time send out an oil sample to a place like Blackstone, for analysis.
  20. I use the Porsche battery maintainer all the time. During winter storage and in between weekend drives. I would not want the battery disconnected, because this would also disable the alarm. Not a huge concern, but a dis-service and irresponsible, IMHO.
  21. Ettsn, save the time and money, and skip the switch, and have the PSE in "sport" mode (loud) at all times. This is what I did, and the results are excellent.
  22. Are you sure your part is leather? Can it just be cleaned and conditioned to look better? If you can remove the part, possibly a good good upholstry shop can re-cover for you.
  23. Through PCNA you can purchase a Certificate of Authenticity. This will list everything from your VIN. Contributing Memebers can also get some very good options information from Loren.
  24. Once I turned on my Garmin Nuvi 680 during a flight from Denver to Chicago. It read 531 MPH! So, I think my Garmin can pace with my Porsche.
