  1. My 993 Turbo is coming up on 17 years old (young!:)). I've been doing used oil analysis with Blackston for about 4 years now. 2 oil changes per driving season. My oil sample is always pulled during the oil change. Oil is hot. And drawn from the middle of the drain interval. Not early and not late. This is how Blackstone Labs recommends it's done. FYI.
  2. Hey guys, will one Mower unit be able to be used on both a 987 and a 993? Or do I have to buy 2 different models? Thanks.
  3. 303 makes a very good product for our cabs too. Ragg Topp's parent company makes it for Porsche.
  4. Or buy used hockey pucks from places like "Play It Again Sports" for about $1.25 each. I have 2.
  5. That's a nice temp drop. Good job. Now, an easy way to keep it clean/cleaner, is prior to car washing, blow out the intake vents with your leaf blower, and again after washing and wet. Stuff will come flying out each time.
  6. Can you post a picture of the wear spot? I use Ragg Topp for my top. Every other year. 3-4 light coats. Still looks like new after +50,000 miles and 7 driving seasons. I'll be doing it in about 2 weeks, once I get the car out of winter hibernation.
  7. Checkout Rennline's new tow hook mounts. http://www.rennline.com/Tow-Hook-Receiver-Billet-License-Plate-Mount/productinfo/E1070.1080/
  8. Sell what ya got, and buy what ya want. This way, you'll get the proven performance and reliability. And better, future, resale.
  9. Right. This is what I see the track rat friends of mine do. Machster, how often are you changing pads? Are you tracking? If you're tracking or AutoX-ing, maybe you need a better (long lasting) pad, like a Pagid, for example. Heck, after +53,000 miles on the 2006 987S I still have the original pads. But I don't track. And I drive 200 hightway miles to carve out 100 miles of country roads on the weekends. So, I'm pretty easy on my gear.
  10. I see you are from Boston. Continued prayers to your community. Did you look into Cover King? The whole car cover is a BIG issue for outdoors, because you need to make sure the cover is kept clean ,and the car is clean when you go to cover it. Or else, you just do more harm than good (protection as intended). I have a 3-car heated garage at home, and still have to rent an outside 15x20 space to keep all the toys garaged. I pay about $130/month. To me, worth it. And I'm just not willing/ready to tear up my yard to build another 2 car garage, but I may someday. Do you have head-space in your garage to add a lift, and then you can stack two cars?
  11. Sorry, I don't have an answer for you, but I do hear GREAT things about Guards LSD's. Good choice.
  12. Are you diligent with your oil level? Not running above the full mark??
  13. Yes, the Super Sports are newer. Came out in 2011-ish. As good, or better than PS2's, with better wear and lower cost.
  14. I have a 987S with the same 19" tires sizes. I've only ever used PS2's. Excellent tires. On my 3rd set and about 51,000 miles total. My next set with be Super Sports. Your budget is a little tight for Michelins. I can usually get about 20 on the rears and double mileage up front.
  15. Pay a little extra and have new plugs put in. Ask for the old plugs back.
  16. And you should really re-torque the bolts again after say 50 or 100 miles. They will take a little more to get back to spec (96 ft.lbs.).
  17. My guess, is that Kurtdiver is looking to maximize MPG's. I could be wrong. If so, just make sure your car is properly maintained, use quality 93 octane gas (ethanol free, if you can find it, good luck, maybe 91 but not 93 anymore) and be diligent with your tire pressures. I think this will yeild as good as results.
  18. Buy new wear sensors. They are about $30 a pair. These can become brittle and brake when doing a pad replacement. Just replace 'em. Faster.
  19. Don't keep driving it until it's fixed and/or properly diagnosed. You could be causing more damage.
  20. It's possible that they are clogged or obstructed with old wax build-up, too. You could try cleaning them with a pin.
  21. Have you looked at Super Sports? They are less than PS2's. Yoko AD-08 are EXCELLENT, and also less than PS2's. Much lower costs, are Kumho's.
  22. I would not allow a tire shop to align my Porsches. But, that's just me. That's the going rate for an alignment from a dealership. A qualified indy shop will charge you about $250ish (figure $125ish/hour). Yes, I know it does not take that long.....but that's what they will charge you, for a first alignment. Make a new post, and ask for indy recommendations in your area for a good alignment. The drawback being that you will now have to go to 2 places as opposed to just one. If that's a hastle, pay the extra $100ish for the dealership, for the convenience. You can make more! :)
  23. This I why you don't ever cancel (suspend) all your insurance when your car is in winter hibernation. A great way to save some money. But, you always keep the Comp coverage for things like this, and it's cheap.
