  1. Donlycan, I understand your frustration, but also consider what your time is worth too. 6 hours of driving plus 3-4 hours at the dealership waiting. That could easily "cost" you $500-$1,000 too. Just a thought.
  2. 911TBO, what makes you think it is not charging?
  3. Heligear, sorry to hear about your problem. I don't think Porsche will help you much. Your car is almost 6 years old and 2 years past warranty.
  4. Hi Dflohr, you need pads already? Wow. How many miles? Thanks.
  5. Hi Fredkhaz, it might be a good time to remove the front bumper and do a very thorough radiator cleaning. I think you have three (3). 2 for coolant and one for the tip tranny. This may help a little. You can search and find the DIY instructions.
  6. Alotter, you may want to check your tire wear and tire pressures (when cold...early morning, prior to first drive).
  7. I have a 2006 987S with no issues like stated here. Just an FYI.
  8. Bring a good quality tire pressure gauge with you too, and check pressures each morning, and make adjustments. You might encounter several different temps on your way home. Hot/warm in Florida...cold in Canada. For about every 10 degree temp change, you will lose 1 PSI. This will protect your tires (and car) and provide for the best MPG's.
  9. It’s not bad for the engine but what you really want to do is warm up the whole car; engine, transmission, tires and suspension and you can’t do that with just idling the engine. Lee Quave is "spot-on" here! Plus, the idling is not good for the cats and costly emission sensors.
  10. You could also "self fund" your own by taking the $2-3K and putting into an interest bearing account to be used only for car repairs. Congrats on the nice new car! :)
  11. Michelin PS2's are awesome tires. $$$. You should use winter tires for safest performance.
  12. Hi Benaslan, you are correct. I never need air. I only do the over-inflation in the fall (late October) in preparation for winter storage. A couple times during the peak of the summer heat, I need to reduce pressure 0.5-1 PSI as the weather steadily warms up. On a couple rare occasions, I have added 1-2 PSI in the late Fall for that one last weekend blast before hibernation. But then temps are around 45 at this time. This is a very hotly debated topic. Love or hate. Very divisive. It works for me, and that's all that matters. Try it, you might like it.
  13. The nitrogen is also great for long term winter storage (5+ months). Very dry & very stable. One Porsche dealership in the Chicago area (could be others too) now makes this part of their regular maintenance. As for being the "latest cash technology" I don't agree. I did mine 2 years ago. Cost me $20. I get free top-ups every fall, to 58-60 PSI, for winter storage. Heck, many of us spend that much at the local coffee shop each week! :) Costco Stores does it for free with a tire purchase.
  14. Get a good Pre Purchase Inspection (PPI) done by a qualified Porsche mechanic or dealership. Porsche's roadside assistance phone number is- 1-800-767-7243 in case you run into trouble on your way home. Good luck & congrats!
  15. Invaluable advice for keeping the seals in the air conditioning system lubricated. Best insurance to avoid costly a/c repairs. Regards, Maurice. I would agree, but don't forget, whenever you turn on your front defroster, the A/C turns on automatically.
  16. Crystal, I see you are in Cali. Do you run 91 or 93 octane? If you are only able to get 91 this could be "costing" you 1-2 MPG's too. Just a thought.
  17. There are a few exhaust options in this link: http://e-partssales.com/Merchant2/merchant...y_Code=997TURBO
  18. Not recommended. Invest in a good set of winter tires with dedicated winter rims. This would be the best approach for you and the other drives you share the road with. Your family deserves it too! :)
  19. PJA, here is an interesting link for a motor: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Porsche-997...sspagenameZWDVW
  20. PJA, congrats on the car! I got to believe that an engine swap like that is going to cost much more than the price you stated. A new crated motor will cost at least that amount. My suggestion would be to learn how to become a better driver. Please don't take this the wrong way. We could all learn to drive our cars better and get the max performance out of them, myself included. Join groups like the PCA and enter into DE Events and AutoX's. :)
  21. Dang, I need to start buying my own Christmas presents too. Most of the stuff I received doesn't fit! Nice job!
  22. 500, your car is under warranty, why not take it to the dealer?
