  1. The CPO is nice. But, there are hundreds of these cars for sale. Try to find one with less issues.
  2. Sbest, are you buying from a Porsche dealership? If so, try to get them to CPO the car. This will add warranty coverage (about 2 years) and mileage (100,000). Should increase the cost approx $2k.
  3. I would not use 15W40 in your cold climate.
  4. I get about 22-24 MPG with my 2006 987S. Top down, mostly spirited highway. I use a calculator, not the on-board computer.
  5. I am not sure how car insurance works in the UK but here in the USA, with proper insurance coverage (Comprehensive Coverage) rodent damage like that would be covered by one's car insurance.
  6. I don't have a spare either. I depend on my cell phone and Porsche's Roadside Assistance (800-767-7243) if ever needed. I also bought one of those emergency repair kits at the auto parts store. It is just a tire plug kit. But, it could help me get to a safer spot or the next town with an actual P-car dealership.
  7. I think Michellin Cups have a treadwear rating of <100 compared to PS's that are about 200. FYI.
  8. I would suspect tires too. 8,000 miles on Michellin Cups is a lot of miles.
  9. You can find, and order Wurth products here, several cities have local warehouses too for pick-up: www.wurthusa.com
  10. Dealerships in the Chicago area charge at least 1 hour for just the rears. Now, if I can just find some tires!
  11. You hear of a high occurance record on Forums like this because active Porsche enthusiests come here to talk about the good along with the bad. More often than not, it is about a problem, and that person is looking for advice & help. Even a place to vent. Many "good news" stories get missed every day. Human nature. For every one Forum member here, there are 10's or 100's of Porsche owners who don't use these internet sites. I think Porsche claims that more than 60% of their vehicles are still on the road. Do our cars go BANG? Sure, sometimes. Honda and Toyotas go BANG too. Keep reading. Learn. Ask qustions, and you will find a car that will be great for you. If it breaks, ya fix it.
  12. Are you kidding me? There is nothing special about the Porsche charger except you pay for the label...most maintainers work the same way....save the dough. wross, I think what he means here is that Porsche offers 2 battery maintainers. One is more expensive & does more than the other. He felt the more expensive one was worth the extra cost. I also agree to buy the Porsche brand. They are not that much more vs an aftermarket- maybe $25. Why risk the few extra dollars on an expensive car.
  13. How long is the warranty on 997 cats?
  14. What exactly does this accomplish? IMHO all you are doing is burning up fuel and annoying your other tenants. The car will not reach peak operating temp in 20 minutes. This is very hard on your emmission systems and oil. About the best thing it does is prevent your tires from flat spotting.
  15. I drive my Box quite a bit less than Joee76... but year around. Can you tell me what exactly is breaking down in a synthetic oil when it's just sitting around in a cool & unstressed crankcase and why it wouldn't be breaking down sitting on the shelf in a cool unstressed little jug? Is it all the cold startups? I always thought accumulated heat, dirt and probably squishing was what breaks a synthetic down... not time. I've never seen an expiration date on a can of oil (never really looked in all fairness) Regards, PK. 1) Porsche says to change it once per year 2) Moisture accumulation in the oil
  16. Why not integrate with the Sport Chrono? The simple answer is you don't need to use the switch. It make the install less complex and less co$t. The exhaust sounds great. It is never loud, obnoxious or resonate. And you will crave the Sport sound even at low speeds and RPM's. If you intergrate it into the SC the sport mode (loud) function will not be activated until higher speeds, RPM's and throttle position.
  17. Porsche does not claim any HP gains from the PSE. The Sport Exhaust in the RS60 is not the same as this PSE.
  18. joee76, you should change the oil every year. You should also change the brake fluid every 2 years. Then I would follow your maintenance guidelines in your owner's manual.
  19. Steve, I had the dealership add the PSE to my 2006 987S (with Sport Chrono) last Spring. I love it. We did not install the on/off switch that can be intergrated with the SC. Sounds great in Sport (loud) mode at all times. Check pricing with Sunset Porsche. They have better pricing than Suncoast. A dealership will want to charge at least 4 hours labor.
