  1. I bet this related to our cars speedo usually showing 2-3 MPH faster too.
  2. Learn the Consumer laws in your area. Talk to your dealership, at a high level. Start contacting Porsche Customer Service.
  3. I recommend you start to document everything and work your Porsche contacts in Europe, and press for an engine replacement.
  4. Some tapping noise at start-up is common & normal. Strange you did not notice it with the replacement cars. What is the air tem there? Are you using the proper oil in your car (Mobil 1 0W40)?
  5. Black_Boxster, there is a lot of info here about noises. Do a few searches. Could be normal. Could be a bad lifter too. Does it make this noise while sitting still or moving?
  6. This is the first post I have ever seen, where someone is trying to make our cars quieter! :) Usually, it is the other way around- need more sound from the engine, exhaust, air intake or stereo. Bigcar, I hear the Buick Lecurne is very-very quiet. :)
  7. I tried this last year. It did not work (transpond) for me.
  8. You should get about 15-20,000 miles on the rears if you take good care of them. Proper inflation is key. Of course this does not include any track-time or Autocrossing.
  9. majormcf, I bet that car was a Custom Order that was never picked-up by the person who placed the order. I say this because that is a unique set of options. Not the usual fare the dealership picks out.
  10. Who is going to paint the side vents? Bumperplugs does great work! Look into them.
  11. Is that really Speed Yellow?Looks kinda light.
  12. I would take the 987 because of a greatly improved interior and more leg & head room.
  13. Buy 93 octane from the busiest name brand station in your area. Chevron if you can get it.
  14. SaintlySins, sorry about your problem. Here are a few very good contact names for you to start the process with PCNA: Heather Foye- Customer Commitment Specialist C. James- Regional After Sales Manager- PCNA J. Blunk- Regional Manager- PCNA L. McGraw- Porsche Senior Customer Commitment Specialist 980 Hammond Drive Suite 1000 Atlanta, GA 30328 770-290-3500 Fax- 770-290-3700
  15. Very nice! Gotta luv that new car smell! A 50 HP increase with an ECU flash? Not going to happen. Say goodbye to your warranty too! If it were that easy, don't you think Porsche would do it? Enjoy your new car. :)
  16. It is a great market to purchase luxury items. Especially if you are a cash buyer.
  17. I would recommend painting them too. Rusted hats don't look good. That's why you should buy OEM. Better quality. So maybe you save a little money with the aftermarkets, but now you got to spend time & money painting the hats. Not really a savings at the end-of-the-day.
  18. 1994964speedster, how much did they charge you for the color change? You would think finding the car in the color you wanted would have been easier. I hope this all works out for you.
  19. Frank, you might need another "battery man". Draining a battery, and then recharging it may have caused damage. Never good to drain a battery. How was it recharged?
  20. How do you know the battery is "OK"? Your battery is 5 years old. That's pretty "old" for a Porsche battery.
  21. Grover, there are several really good threads about your question. Try doing a few searches for "tire pressures". This is also something that you will need to play with because many factors play into it like; track temp, air temp, tires (size, type, condition) and driving skill/level. Have fun. Be safe. And bring/buy a high quality tire pressure gauge to bring to the track.
  22. So you buy cheap tires, and then you wonder what happened to performance. Amazing. You did a great job getting 26,000 miles on your Michelins. You should have stayed with a quailty product, and one that was/is Porsche approved.
  23. ettenw, I think this is something you need to keep you eyes on for a little while. See what happens when you start getting some warmer (>70 degree) days.
  24. Are they supposed to be? I've never had one that was, including current stable, Lexus.& BMW ,& Boxster (I assume). Regards, PK Mine are dead-on- Porsche, Ford and Mercedes. Rental cars from Avis are pretty accurate too.
