  1. Westcoaster, over a period of time, you will focus less on the repaired area, and look right past it. You are just fixating right now. :)
  2. I also park on hard/dense rubber matts found at places like Lowes or Home Depot (like the tiles used in a health club's weight room). I don't know if this helps...but it sure does NOT hurt.
  3. On my DDs, I have had these types of resin repairs done with great success.
  4. Bigcar, I also have a 2006 987S. Only drive weekends. In storage Oct-April. It is plugged in with the Porsche battery maintainer at ALL times when in the garage.
  5. CarFax is only a tool, one of many, that should be used to do your due dillegence when buying a used Porsche. Not perfect, but a usefull tool in the entire process.
  6. It is very easy to prevent flat-spotting. Just inflate tires to 58-60 PSI with good dry air (from a tire store vs the gas station). Then, every month, move the car (by hand) about 6-12 inches, and then back again the following month. Any flat spots in the Spring, will come right out within a few miles and a good heat cycle.
  7. I plug my Porsche Battery Maintainer into the car at all times it's sitting in the garage between drives and during the +5 months of winter storage.
  8. Most gas, in or near large cities, contains up to 10% ethanol. I can buy gas in a few places that does not contain ethanol, and try to at all times. More importantly, the gas for storage needs to be stabilized.
  9. This is not mentioned in your Owner's Manual. I do not believe your statement to be true either. I hybernate my car from mid October till early April. I NEVER start or run the engine during this time period. I use the Porsche battery maintainer, over inflate the tires, stabilize the fuel, store with clean oil, and do a few others things. The car has been perfection the past 2 storage periods. FYI, the brake pads do not touch the rotors when stored out of gear, with the wheels blocked. Do not use the parking brake. To each their own.
  10. I would never store a car outside with a cover, but that's just me. I think the car is worth the $75-150/month storage fees. I store my car in my neighbors garage for $75. You should reconsider. Also look at storage facilities further away from your home. They will have better (cheaper) rates. Good luck.
  11. Jroach, will the damage be covered by your insurance company?
  12. V996tt, there are a ton of 996TTs for sale. Don't feel pressured to buy "this one" if that is what you decide to do. Be patient. And ask all of the right questions, just like you have done. Good job. You will find the right car. The hunting is the most fun part.
  13. I took my first set of Michellin Pilot Sports to 20,000 miles and do 99% top down driving. And I never heard any tire noise.
  14. Wross996TT, yes, I am am running for office, please come out and vote on November 4th. I need your support. How'd I do last night? I do not use the Porsche leather care product(s). I use the products from www.colorplus.com. The Color Plus products came highly recommended to me from our local PCA Concours Judge and John Paterek is a huge fan of the products over at the Porsche Club of America's Tech/Help Section.
  15. Hey Wross996TT: Thanks for the links! I have talked to Eric at Bumperplugs many-many times. I do as much business with his company as I can. Great guy, products and quality. But, I would hardly consider him an expert on leather care. He has just another opinion, just as you do. I repsect both (all)...I just choose to disagree. As for the Rennlist link, again, just a couple more different opinions. My Porsche Owner's Manual says to condition all the leather. I will continue to do this. Bottom-line, my car sits in the garage 6 days a week. And the entire time from late October till early April. When it is outside, and parked, I always use a cheap-o sunshade from Wal-Mart. I drive the car every Saturday, in good weather, for at least 300-400 miles. Lastly, the "scientist" in me says the 'relative/residual moisture' of the car's leather interior is within 2-3% of the actual humidity of the current air's condition. This is why I store my car with about 10 pounds of dessicator bags- to protect the leather and wood accents during prolonged storage. See, no whitty replies needed. Just opinions. And a few enthusiasts talking about our passions. :)
  16. You could also order a Certificate of Authenticity from PCNA. http://www.pca.org/members/library/Cert_of_Authen_Form.pdf And put this with you car's documents.
  17. Very nice car! Great color combo. Do 295's fit on our cars without spacers? I really like the windstop window sticker, but I don't like the decals on the side panels. Just a personal opinion. Other than that, you have done a great job! What did you do with the stock wheels? Zaino is a great product. Who did steps 4-6 for you? How does this effect the warranty? Can you "feel" the extra 20 HP over stock?
  18. Are you doing a color change or a true re-dye? What products are you going to use. Good luck and much success. Please post pictures.
  19. Loren, does Porsche have to "re-approve" a tire if the tire manufacturer makes any type of a change/revision...hence an NO...and then it becomes an N1?
  20. I recently scanned through my owner's manual, and read the section about "leather care". NO place in the manual did it say, "do not put leather conditioner on the door panels or dash". It DID say to put Porsche's leather conditioner on all leather surfaces. My full leather interior is +2 years old and looks better than the day I picked her up at the dealership. I use the leather conditioner from Color Plus on all of my leather, 1-2 times per driving season. PS- I can still hear my father saying to me when I was about 6 years old, "if all else fails, read the owner's manual"!
  21. Keep in mind, PCNA's tire distributor for the USA is the Tire Rack! One catch-22 I recently discovered is that you do not have access to Tire Rack's road hazard warranty if you purchase tires through your Porsche dealership. You only get the warranty if you purchase it when you order your tires from Tire Rack. And many of the "N" rated Porsche approved tires from the Tire Rack are on backorder (Michelin's for example in 19") and the only possible way to get them are through the dealership. I think this sucks. I guess the answer is to not purchase "N" rated tires. But, I am not willing to do this either.
