  1. I found my answer: C2S and C4S are widebody. C2 and C4 are narrowbody.
  2. I know the 993 Turbo is a widebody. But what about the n/a 1996-1998 993s? Which ones are considered widebody......the C4 and the C4S? Are the C2 and the C2S narrowbody? Thanks.
  3. I don't care what color it is. It could be pink for all I care. Did you say 997 Turbo? Did you say 800 HP? Where do I sign up. SOLD! :) Great job. What are those 2 black funnel looking things, in the carbon fiber enclosure area, in the 6th picture?
  4. Some have claimed the plenums were different - if so I would assume the ECU coding was different, but was trying to get a clearer picture of whether there are differences or not. Call Sunset Porsche (503-641-8600) parts department, and ask them if the plenum part numbers are different.
  5. Completely different part numbers. You need the 987 kit.
  6. I understand. Thanks. If the asking price is $50K...you should be able to get that car for $45k. If you have already negotiated down to $50K and you found a great car, then good for you. You should be very happy.
  7. Eds964, I hope you are getting a great price on that 2002 Turbo. There are so many for sale, and really pushing prices down. That should be a sub $45K car. Probably more like $38-42K. Good luck with your search. I too hear that the 996 Turbo motor is pretty robust.
  8. I am no expert. But, I think for your question: #1) If there are any part numbers that are different, I'd be surprised, and there would be very few at that #2) There are many codes in the ECU. Most are probably the same. Can you be more specific in your line of questions? What are you trying to acheive and/or accomplish?
  9. Ken, I am going to send Loren a PM and nominate you Renntech forum member of the month! You da man! Good job. :)
  10. So, Tool Pants, are you advocating that people add an extra 1 litre of oil to our engines? Or just keep over-filling until we see smoke pouring out?
  11. Not a bit surprised...especially at an auction.
  12. WOW! This is really poor advice. Maybe you missed the part were they drained an extra litre out of the car. Tell you what, John, go put an extra litre of oil in your car. Send me the receipt, and I send you a 100% reimbursement for the oil.
  13. LOL. You young guys of the cell phone texting Red Bull era! In my day tut meant King Tutankhamun. :D
  14. The Motul brand is a high quality product and some of their specific oil products are Porsche approved and on the "list". Check to make sure the one you select is on the list.
  15. Congrats on the new car! What makes people decide between the C2S vs the C4S? Just curious what criteria is mostly used. Thanks.
  16. Loren, thanks for keeping these TSB updated. But, I have never found this member's section too user friendly. Maybe it is me doing it wrong, but I can never easily see the most recent updates. I'll try again today.
  17. What do you mean by "tut"????? Search old threads under user name "Tool Pants". He has listed some info and pictures about the painted rollbar. I hope the paint shop you are working with does an excellent job prepping the surface to accept paint. Also, do not put back in the plastic windscreen in the windstop hoops (if you have this option) for several weeks, until the paint has cured. If the paint is not cured, you could have peeling problems when you remove the black plastic windscreens in the future. A quality paint job on the roll bar, IMHO, should not be less than $1,000. The factory option is about $550 and well worth it. Good luck!
  18. Take to the dealership and get corrected. No big deal. I think this is very common with dealerships, and certainly not acceptable. I think they fill with the correct measured amount but they don't wait the proper 20+ minute drain time, hence you get overfilled by a couple hundred millileters.
  19. I don't think it is a good idea to drive around all the time, with the top down and the AC on. Lots of wear & tear. I do run my AC just about ev evry month just to keep everything in tip-top shape.
  20. Happy Birthday and congrats on the new Porsche! If your car is equipped with PASM- Porsche Active Suspension Management, it is approx 10mm lower than a non-PASM car. It does not raise & lower, but rather starts 10mm lower than a non-PASM car. The term "sport" refers to Sport Chrono. When in sport mode, there is an interphase with other options like PASM and PSE- Porsche Sport Exhaust. The only cars that I know of that actually lower & raise, are the new 2010 GT3's, and this factory option (front lift) does not come out until late Fall build dates. The price is about $4K. This helps to get the car in places...driveways, and such.
  21. Jef, if you want a painted center console, Eric at www.bumperplugs.com is your answer for great quality work and customer service.
  22. Rev ranges have been an extremely well covered topic here on the Forum. You should search and read through some old threads. Here are the rev ranges for your car: A 997-1 DME records the following rev ranges: Range 1: 7300-7500 RPM Range 2: 7500-7700 RPM Range 3: 7700-7900 RPM Range 4: 7900-8400 RPM Range 5: 8400-9500 RPM Range 6: 9500-11000 RPM Range 1 and 2 are very common. A few ("few" being the operative word) ignitions are OK in range 3. Ignitions in range 4-6 spell "T O A S T " for both your engine and warranty. How do you get "safe" ignitions that exceed your rev limiter? That happens from the momentum and inertia of your engine. How do you get ignitions that exceed range 3? Mainly missed shifts or spinning the car (get clutch in asap). The rev limiter only protects on the way...not on the way down (missed shift).
  23. 2 years? Are you kidding me! The good Dr. Porsche is pi$$ed at you. :)
  24. I agree with everyone else. It even sounds/borders on illegal in the USA, to me. Do your new rears match the front? Not a good idea to mix tire brands and models. How to read tire age: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tiretech/tec...?techid=11&
