  1. As for the "liquid"...did it smell like gas? Coolant? Condensation? Drainage from rain or a recent car washing? As a general rule, don't consistanty run your fuel levels low. Or low enough to consistantly give you low fuel warnings. If you get/need a new battery, also purchase a battery maintainer (not a charger) and keep the car plugged in at all times between drives. Sounds like your car is a weekend toy, and may sit around several days unused.
  2. What year is your car? The car will go into "sleep mode" after about 5 days. To conserve power. So, it is very normal for your key fob NOT to work. You need to "re-awake" the car. The easiest way it to put the key into the door, and unlock, before removing the key, hit the lock button on your key fob. This will re-awake the car and alarm system. You might possibly need a new car battery. We need more info from you.
  3. Sorry this has happened to your Porsche. But, maybe the good thing, is that you'd assume a termite truck business is at least properly insured.
  4. I am doing just about everything you are doing, sans the magnetized drain plug and oil filter dissection. My Blackstone UOA's have all been excellent with Red Line 5W40 and Mobil 5W50. I am just finishing my 7th driving season and rolling over 52,000 miles. I am switching to the Jake Raby approved Joe Gibbs DT40 5W40 oil tomorrow, in fact, during my year-end maintenance routine. I have no plans to do anything else, like you mentioned (pulling the IMS bearing seal). If my car ever goes "BOOM".......I'll either part it out and buy another Porsche, or stuff a 3.6 or a 3.8 motor into it. And drive my 993 Turbo more while the work is being done on the Boxster. I have BIGGER FISH TO FRY. I can't worry about every possible internet issue with Porsches. I am on top of all my maintenance and take great care of my cars. If something breaks, I'll just fix it. Stroke the big check, and move on. No lost sleep. That's part of the price of addmission. Works for me. But, I understand it does not for everyone.
  5. Most guys are trying to get your sound! Might need to go back to OEM stock, but it won't be cheap. Did you just recently buy the car? See if the seller still has the OEM parts. That's why sellers usually keep these OEM parts when doing aftermarket mods. Because the next buyer/owner might not like it. Be careful with that aftermarket air cleaner.

  7. I'd suggest contacting Suncoast, and see if they can warranty the part. In past experiences with SUNSET Porsche, they were excellent in resolving a part's issue that was flawed. Good luck.
  8. Just as a side note guys, this may be true with the oil filters for the 997/996....but I know for a fact this is NOT TRUE for the 993 oil filters.
  9. I rarely use the analog speedo. Mostly the digital. In the 2006 Boxster it shows abour 2-3 MPH faster than actual (normal highway speeds). In the 1997 993 Turbo the digital is dead accurate.
  10. Buy a proper balaclava too. Keeps the helmet cleaner and makes getting the helmet on and off a little easier.
  11. Well, for PCA events, you don't need a helmet for road rallys. You will for autocross and DE. Make sure you try the helmet on for 20-30 minutes. And sit it your car and check for head room in the proper driving position. If you wear glasses, practice putting on and off your glasses. I wear an HJC. Bell and Arai are also very good.
  12. Is all you maintenance up to date? Like plugs and coil packs (maybe one or more are cracked??))?
  13. Or use your leaf blower, and blow out the water from the cross drilled rotors, and dry the entire wheel.
  14. For another reference point. when I bought my PSE through the Techquipment program from Sunset, I paid about $1,700 for parts and another $600 for my local dealership to install. Not too bad, considering the factory installed option (not available for a 2006 build) was $2,100.
  15. Sorry I can't help you much, but be careful. You don't want to active your airbag. It might be recommended to disconecct your battery, prior to doing this project. And wait a couple minutes after the battery is diconnected. Do you plan on painting it? Could look cool. May want to shoot Eric at Bumperplugs a note. GL.
  16. Our OEM Porsche filters are excellent. If you use the K&N be very careful about over oiling. That's how you can fark up an expensive MAF. Proceed with caution.
  17. WOW, I have not posted here in a L O N G time!:) Well, my 2006 Boxster S just turned 50,000 miles durng date night with my wife on Saturday night. The car has been rock solid the past 7 driving seasons. All routine and preventative maintenance only. Not a single issue. Prior to winter hibernation she will be getting: 1) Oil change- will try the new Joe Gibbs DT40 5W40 2) Coolant flush 3) Proactive waterpump replacement 4) Proactive thermostat replacement 5) Serpentine belt replacement
  18. No PCM here. No critters, either, since I "noticed" this prior to winter hibernation. I think the issue is more "me" and not the car.
  19. Need a little help from a 987 / 987S owner with the Bose stereo. My stereo just does not sound right. Could be just me, and my aging (46) ears! LOL!! Just got the car out last week from winter hibernation. My rear Bose speaker "box" just sounds dull all of a sudden. Not as crisp on the highs, and not as bassy on the lows. If I turn the fader all the way to the rear, the system sounds very flat & dull. Is this normal? I am adjusting the fader to "all rear" just to issolate the issue. Last fall when I did my own air filter change, I obviousley removed the Bose speaker box. I was extremely careful, and worked slow. Did I do something wrong last fall? Please help. Thanks.

  21. I really don't think you should use an impact wrench. All you need is a good, 1/2 drive, torque wrench, with a long handle. Spec is 96 ft.-lbs. Eat some Wheaties, you can do it!
  22. No problem with either location...they both drink beer at lunch time.
