  1. Don't do it. Use a high quality synthetic Porsche approved oil and OEM filters. Change it yearly or every 5-7,000 miles. If you want to learn more about how the oil is working in your truck, send a sample to places like Blackstone Labs, and start to chart and collect UOA data.
  2. Not true, according to this chart, they are the same: mobil_1_product_guide.pdf
  3. Restore has several products. What product are you considering? Why? What problem(s) are you trying to resolve with your Porsche? If you are asking about a fuel system cleaner, make sure you do this treatment PRIOR to your oil change procedure. I use the Chevron with Techron prior to my yearly oil changes, just before winter hibernation.
  4. And your coil pack and wires are A-OK? What about the health (clogged) of your fuel injectors??
  5. ^Good tire. What about the Yoko AD08's? Excellent tire. I have them on my 993 Turbo (235/40/18 and 295/30/18). I don't drive in the rain.
  6. Do you have any fault codes? Is all your maintenance up to date?? Things like spark plugs and coil packs???
  7. I assume you disconnected the battery to do these mods. Right? Have you driven the car yet? The PSM (Porsche Stability Management) warning light will clear within the first few block of driving after a battery disconnect. Not sure about the PASM (Porsche Active Suspension Management).
  8. Try Autozone (Duralast) or an Interstate (MTP- Megatron Plus) battery.
  9. Buy OEM 75W90 Gear Oil from our site sponsor Sunset Porsche. It's about $29 quart. You'll need 3. Mobil Delvac 75W90 is excellent, and I use that in my 993 Turbo, but would not put that in my Boxster.
  10. I have beige rubber Hexomats matts in my 987. They have been great for the past 7 driving seasons. The rubber smells a little funky in the beginning, but it goes away. http://www.customautoaccessories.com/vehicleProducts.php?make=Porsche&model=911%20%28996%29&year=2003&product=Hexomat-Auto-Floor-Mat
  11. Regardless what you decide, make sure all 4 tires are a matched set. Don't run your current PS2's up front, and then install new SS on the rear. I hear great reviews of the SS on our Porsche.
  12. Make sure you do a DME scan and read the ignitions in the over-rev ranges 1-6 (including time stamp) and post results here. Make note of the engine op hours, too.
  13. There are NO secrets of mysteries. Pick a quality Porsche approved oil, in the proper viscosity for your driving conditions/climate, use OEM filters, and change it at least yearly or every 5-7,000 miles. Drive the stink out of your Porsche, and don't worry about it. If you really want to lean more about the oil in your Porsche, send samples to Blackstone Labs. Move on, you have BIGGER fish to fry. Enjoy the ride!:)
  14. Both are great oils. Your car can also use the Porsche approved 5W40 and 5W50 Mobil 1. If you really want to learn (and see) more about the oil in your Porsche, I suggest doing used oil analysis with places like Blackstone. Use OEM oil filters, and change it at least yearly, or every 5-7,000 miles.
  15. How old are the tires? If they are 5 or 6 years old, they are worthless, and should not be used, regardless of thread depth. You can check for the DOT stamp on the sidewall to see the year and week produced. Nice rims. They will sell for about $1,000-1,200. Lots of Porsche OEM rims out there.
  16. While "you are in there" replace the thermostat and gasket too. Figure about $43.00 total in parts.
  17. I ordered my 2006 Boxster S with the factory OEM spacers 5mm. I did this for a few reasons: 1) To be different (looks wise) 2) It was NOT that expensive in Porsche dollars (<$500) 3) To slightly pull the wheels (5 spoke Carrera Classics) away from the big reds for easier cleaning and detailing purposes You WILL NOT see any performance difference unless your name is Patric Long! Make sure you purchase the longer & proper wheel bolts.
  18. 3 words of advice: 1) Stick 2) With 3) Stock (OEM plugs) Good job on doing this maintenance. I changed the plugs in my 2006 987S at the 4 year mark (like Porsche recommends) with about 38,000 miles. Buy your plugs at Sunset Porsche for about *$106. *wow, prices on OEM plugs have shot up! Mine were less than $75 2 years ago.
  19. If you like 'em, buy 'em. You deserve 'em. The money involved? You can make more.:)
  20. 3 words: 1) roadtrip 2) refuel 3) retest :)
