  1. Yeah. Ima give up and sell it or trade it in. I just want to move on to a 997.
  2. I have JUST started looking recently. But I really found what I like already. So its hard not to find a way to make it happen. I am a little worried about a car that has been driven so little. I know its not good for the engine to just sit.
  3. Hello all, I need to get my cab top replaced, reinstalled and all around fixed in the Bay Area (CA). I talked to a shop in San Jose and he seemed interested in doing all the work, but when I told him the top and frame was removed, he wouldnt reply to me anymore. South Bay, San Jose, Fresno, or East Bay area please. I guess, for a really good shop, I would go to Sacramento or LA even. I need a shop that really knows 996 Cab Tops. Thanks!!!!!! :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :(
  4. Hey guys, Im looking to buy a 997. I found one I really like but when my bank runs the value (they use kbb) the value is far lower than the asking price. Im trying to find places on the internet where I can verify value. A 2006 997 C2 with a GT3 Wing and Front Bumper @ 40k miles and no damage. No navigation. is showing about 36k on kbb. The seller is asking 44k. Thats pretty far off and the bank doesnt buy it.
  5. I know this thread is a year old. But does anyone know what happened? It was an interesting read.
  6. Theres a 3.4 forsale on craigslist in my area, in case anyone needs one. I think this may be a good deal. He will accept 2200. Here is the link. http://seattle.craig...3253187519.html This is what he told me in an email: We needed a transmission and bought a set. We paid $8,500 to have another engine rebuilt for us before we found this and thought it best to go with the rebuilt. We were told the car the set was pulled from had 68,000 miles. Hope this helps someone on renntech.
  7. Ok. Sounds good jfp. Its funny, there is a guy in the Honda Aquatrax forum that has a similar name. Anyways, Ill put the dye in. Ive been trying to think of a sure fire way to flush the system. What if I pull the water pump and the thermostat and use water pressure to forcibly run the entire cooling system until it runs clear? Has anyone tried that?
  8. 2.5 hours on vacuum. No leak. I bought the dye and a uv light at Schucks. Will see what happens. I cant believe after three distilled flushes its still the same color water!!!! Start and Finish photos.
  9. Im about to do the vacuum test for 45 minutes. Will post pics.
  10. I have the uview vacuum filler. I can vacuum test it correct? Or is the pressure test better? Great tip on the UV dye, thank you thank you!!! Im just not sure what to do. I got the car for a really good price. At the time I bought it, I didnt know that 03 and up had so many improvements. I cant quite afford a GT3. Plus there are no GT3 cabs or targas. So I can keep dealing with my 99 issues or trade it in on an 03. My logic works like this. If I get an 03, that will eat 10+k. If I keep my 99. It will eat 3k, if I get the new clutch/rms/ims/aos. If I was a millionaire I would have a new GT3. If I was broke I would be very happy with any 911. I hate having options.
  11. Thats the exact step Im at. Used two small jugs of flushing cleaner as recommended. And Im on my 3rd flush of distilled. The color is exactly the same as the first drain. The water in that flask has a very slight sheen to it also. I think Im catching an intermix issue right at the very beginning. No?
  12. 99 C2. 145000 miles. Replaced water pump 2000 miles ago. Murky coolant. Drained, run and filled 3 times with distilled. Color wont change. Lots of little pieces of black plastic too. I assume from the old impeller. Never got to see what it looked like, so I dont know how bad the impeller came apart, or if it did at all. My AOS has a slight oil leak and spark plug tube number 2 has a slight oil leak. Could either of those cause intermix? From what a I read replacing the AOS is a serious PITA. Anyone recommend a indy shop in Bellevue, WA? Sad sad sad sad. :( :( :( :(
  13. How does one reach the center air vent servos?
  14. My electrical part of my ignition switch was replaced a few years ago. But the trim around my ignition is loose. Is yours loose? It appears the trim mounts to only the lock itself. And mine moves back and forth. Does your tighten up?
