  1. Try putting a small amount of Krytox grease in the seal (where the window comes in contact with it). Do a search here for "Convertible top squeaks and creaks". You will get a lot of information on how to remedy annoying noises
  2. Just to clarify on the cost of a 997 3.6 and 3.8. from Porsche. Yes the cost is lower that a 996 3.6 but the core charge is huge. :o Unless you have a 997 3.6 or 3.8 to exchange it doesn't make any sense financially. Give the guys at Sunset or Suncoast a call and you will see what I mean. I have seen some great deals on 997 3.8's from Porsche Dismantlers on E-Bay. Probably a better way to go if you want to do a swap. Just make sure the 997 engine is the new design 2006 +.
  3. + 1. I will second that possibility. Is the sound more like a "chirp"? Does it seem to be coming from one side of the engine? I had this issue and one Dealership mechanic told me I needed a new engine   :censored: :cursing: Turns out it was a loose spark plug letting gases escape as Dr914jr says.
  4. My 2000 996 C2 does the same thing
  5. :clapping: :clapping: :clapping: My Mom just lowered mine... She's crazy like that..
  6. I have a light flywheel and I have no problems whatsoever as a daily driver. It's a bit uncivilized though.... The noise (rattle) is also a turn off. But the performance is cool :D Actually I think you are wise to stick with the stock flywheel
  7. Is that your silver C4S Benjamin? (in the post above.)
  8. Just wanted to ask you...Having spent many years in the Philippines myself..Where the heck do you drive your Gt3? Are you in Luzon? Early (and I mean early) morning runs to Batangas? Just curious..
  9. I guess I'm a bit sensitive because my 3.4 blew up after issues with the coolant light coming on. I know it's a GT3 but would rather err on the side of caution. :renntech:
  10. That C4S is freakin stunning. :clapping: :clapping: :clapping:
  11. Do not ignore your warning light!! You could have several issues. Have you flushed your coolant lately? you could have air in the system. You can bleed the system. Do a search here. How many miles on the car? Have the car checked and check the water pump. If you have a catostrophic waterpump failure while driving the results could be dire. I wouldn't continue to drive the car until you resolve the issue.
  12. Thanks Loren
  13. What are the symptoms of a bad coolant cap?
  14. Don't know it but I like it!! :D Make sure you get a PPI before you buy it. May I ask how much your paying for it?
  15. Pardon my ignorance but looking at the crack it seems difficult to fix. How would a machine shop do this??
  16. Interesting... I thought the Delvac was supposed to make everything smoother??. I was getting ready to change mine as well with the Delvac. Lets see who else can comment on your issue....
  17. Okay, So I bought a Dremel tool with accessories. I bought three levels of polishing compounds as well. It was kind of scary :o but I started grinding on the wheel with the worst damage (the cement driveway chewed it up pretty bad.) I figured that If I made it worse I would have it done by a pro. To my suprise I did a pretty good job. :D It looks much better than when I started. I realize that I need a much larger surface area tool to sand and polish. The Dremel comes with very small attachments. I will purchase additional polishing/sanding heads to finish the job. I will post pictures once I'm done (I'm only about 50% there now.) It won't be prefect but you will really have to scrutinize it to see the flaws. It will be nice to know that I can fix my own scuffs in the future (I'm sure there will be more.) :cursing: Update later Phillipj
  18. Good to hear you found the problem. Keep us posted :D
  19. Just detail the hell out of it. Maybe some polished tips for the exhaust. Rejex for the paint, Aerospace 303 for the plastic parts(interior) and tire dressing!!
  20. I like it. Very different and kind of "old school". :clapping:
  21. And I read through it TWICE to check for things like that!!!! I'll just blame it on the fact that I have my sleeping 10 month old daughter on my lap.... I guess that shows how much I REALLY need a BREAK!!!! :D :clapping: :jump: :clapping:
  22. Sorry to be a school teacher but it's spelled "brakes" not "breaks" :D I have a similar issue. I haven't found a cause either. Hopefully someone will chime and help
  23. It basically gives you a bit more agressive sound to your engine. Fabspeed claims HP gains but that is hooey. You haven't noticed any difference in the sound since the install?
