  1. I contacted AASCO (makers for the LWFW on the car) and asked them advice on fitting a clutch with the 3.6 engine with a 3.4 trans. Here is their reply. Phillip, Now I have enough information. You must stick with the original chassis identification when ordering pressure plates and discs. You should have ordered the parts from spec for a 2000 996 C2 if you have the 2003 pressure plate and disc you have a mismatch and the diaphragm fingers are to long and overstroking the pressure plate assembly. Remember the disc and pressure plate have to match specific for the chassis or in realty the trans. regards Randy Aase So it looks like i will order the 3.4 SPEC stage 1 clutch
  2. Glad to hear you finally solved your issue. Congrats! :clapping:
  3. Scary that the idiot would happen to have an egg with him.. I hope you find him and water board him B)
  4. I would tow it to your mechanic and have him run the codes and see what you find. Without the correct error codes we will be just guessing
  5. If you can get the engine compartment open you can attach a battery or jump battery to you positive jump start terminal (see owners manual for location) and it will give you enough power to pop your hood. :D There are a plethora of threads here if you do a search on "emergency latch release cable". The engine compartment release cable is MUCH easier to access than the one under the wheel well for the hood (provided it is located where it is supposed to be  >) Good luck
  6. No I don't but I suggest you go with the OEM. They are quite inexpensive through Sunset
  7. What a beauty!!!! I freakin love white P cars. Congrats and enjoy :clapping: :clapping: :clapping: May I asked how much you paid for her?
  8. I'm sorry to hear about your issues on such a new car. I would insist they fix everything to your liking. That is very funny about the rep telling you that the DM flywheel was causing the chatter. What a freakin moron. I wonder if he knows what a flywheel is??? :jump: Although there are "new" engines they (Porsche) typically replace with a "reman" engine. This possibly could be a better choice because typically they have updated suspect parts and addressed issues that have failed in the original engines. I would press them to make the car right or you could persue the "lemon" approach and have them replace the entire car. Sound like you may have a case for that. Good luck and keep us posted.
  9. Wonder if anyone has some input on this subject. Since my conversion to the 3.6 my clutch has not functioned properly. I have the ASSCO LW flywheel and the OEM 3.4 disk, TB and pressure plate. The trans does not like to go into gear when at high speed. I'm also getting TB squeal at take off. When depressing the clutch I can't push it all the way in or the problem worsens. I have to depress it about 90%. My "so-called" tuner  says it is my flywheel that is causing the problems. He said other swaps he did that had the Dual Mass FW did not have issues. I looked on AASCO's site and the 3.4 and 3.6 flywheels are the same part number. I got some input from Todd (member here in the forum that has done many swaps) and he told me that if I wanted to stay with the LWFW I should go to a stage 1 clutch and the 3.6 pressure plate and TB. Todd also told me the transmission dictates the clutch choice not the engine (which makes perfect sense.) I have contacted AASCO for their input. If anyone had any ideas on this I would like to hear them. I know you are aksing "why isn't your Tuner dealing with this issue?" Errrrr.... I will discuss him at another time. Thanks in advance as usual.. Phillipj
  10. Man... This is a tough crowd today.... B)
  11. Use the search tool and search "engine serial numbers". This has been covered many time and you should be able to fiind what you are looking for. Also if your engine is "clean" (free of cosmoline) you know that you have a reman from Porsche. :D
  12. Shell Transaxle 75w-90 You can order it through Sunset (you'll need 3 liters) Expect to gain between 20 to 30 HP....
  13. Okay I finally changed the gear oil in my manual trans. Used the Shell Transaxle. What a freakin Difference! :jump: Doesn't even feel like my transmission. Super smooth and easy to change gears. My car has 72k miles. If anyone has been considering this (and you are getting near your maintenance interval) do it! You will be very happy you did..
  14. Great job.!! I looks really nice. Kudos to you for tackling a fab job! :clapping:
  15. Hey my friend, My old 996 (which was Glacier white) got ran into in a parking lot. It punched a small home in the rear bumper and I had it replacd. I had the front bumper and skirts repainted at the same time. My body shop was able to match the paint perfectly. I could never see any difference between the body and bumpers. I would go back to the body shop and have them make it right. It's not like it's some kind of exotic metallic or something. A skilled paint shop should be able to match it. Please send pics! I want to see you baby with the kit!! Phillipj
  16. Tecra, Thanks for the reply. I was looking at the Bilstein website and I saw the gas shocks for lowered cars. I can't afford the coilovers. You know anything about the Bilstien gas shocks? Would they be compatible with the H & R springs? Thanks! Although the GT2 bumper looks good it is a piece of crap. It doesn't funnel air to the radiators well and the tow hook hole doesn't match up. The previous owner installed the bumper. If you get one make sure you spend the extra cash and get a good one. NR Automotive has one. They have quality products. Here is the link http://www.nrauto.com/sub_index.asp?makeid...p;spage=Bodykit
  17. I doubt they would have changed your trans oil unless you requested it. Agree, stick with the factory fill if you change it. Here is the link for the DIY. http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=7060
  18. I use a scratch remover on small scuffs. It works really well on heels scuffs on the door sills etc. Also have removed scratches on rear bumper from me being careless when working in the engine bay. I have never tried it on a scratch that has gone through the clear coat. If you have deep scratches I would suggest going to your body shop. On my wifes old Benz I had all door dings and scratches removed for $150 bucks. Have no experience with the product you mentioned. Hope this helps,
  19. I'm running 33 in the front and 39 in the rears. Made a huge difference. The ride is rough but car handles much better. Thanks for all the input
  20. Benjamin, Who does the work on your car? You are in So Cal? Thanks !
  21. The previous owner installed H & R sport springs on my car. From looking at the suspension it appears that the stock dampners are still in place. The car handles poorly. :( Does anyone have these springs? If so what would be a good dampner to mate with them? The car has HRE replica 19 in wheels. H & R says that these springs lower the car 1 1/2 to 2 inches. Attached is a pic that shows how low the car is. :o Any suggestions or input would be appreciated. Thanks!! :D
  22. Excellent...Keep the updates coming
