  1. I don't have a complete answer but yes, the packs tend to fail when they get old. And yes, you should replace all of them. Do a search here on "Cracked Coil packs" and I'm sure you will get some of the information you need. Including what a bad one looks like.... Good luck. I'm sure someone else will be able to answer the rest of your questions
  2. Those are sweet.. I have bought stuff from Maxspeed as well. Good guy and good products..
  3. Thanks Loren You are correct. It only mounts in 3 places
  4. Definetly go for the 06. It has the upgraded engine parts. 05 was Porsches worst engine build year ever. Have had an engine blow up I would spend the extra cash and get the better engine.. I have seen 05's for sale that have had engine replacements. That would be an option because the replacement engine has the upgraded parts as well. Good luck in your search!
  5. If it is the OEM Porsche part it bolts on to existing fasteners. These bolts hold plumbing etc. There are four fastening points. When you place the plate under the engine (and see how it orients) it is self explatory which bolts to use. Take you about 5 minutes tops...
  6. One of my clients is selling his 997 GT3 becsuse his new 2010 GT3 will be here in December (so freakin jealous.) He will give me a rediculous good deal on it. Maybe I'll just buy that. Of course my wife would give me the "death of a thousand cuts" if I did buy it. Actually I don't want a 997 Turbo. For some reason I don't care for them. The GT3 on the other hand I covet greatly

    Rev Limiter

    That can't be good
  8. Maybe in 1998 they had to cover a short position that went against them. Hence the intermediate shaft was born!! :jump: :censored:
  9. After the bodywork gets done (don't ask) and that loser tuner  of mine finishes my freakin swap (lost ECU programming when I changed my battery). My self and another unfortunate member here are going to release the full dossier on Mr. Fabian Roock in the very near future. He is a street urchin and should be run out of the Porsche business. B) You have pictures of your car with your body kit? People still ask me about my white coupe. I loved that car. I think if I buy a Turbo I would leave it alone. Mods are a slippery slope that I don't want to go down again......... 415 hp is fine
  10. I'm sick of pouring money into my "Frankenstein" Carrera. I have near $50k in it now and it's still not right. new engine, new radiators, new clutch, new canvas top, new tires etc.... I may just sell it for whatever I can get and get a stock Turbo. If I can get one for $40K I will be happy. Seriously considering it. There are lots of cars and lots of time.... :D
  11. Was browsing on Autotrader today and found this very sweet Turbo back east. 2001 with 15,750k miles for $46,999. Seems like a great price considering the mileage. What do you Turbo guys think? http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?ct=u...;standard=false
  12. Call fabspeed. They will be able to tell you
  13. I got in an altercation with a bus and broke the glass in my drivers side side view mirror. It pops right out of the housing and I see it's easily replaceable. Anyone know the part #? Thanks
  14. 30 (easy) to 50 k miles. My old 996 had 70k with the original clutch.
  15. Try these guys too. http://www.advleather.com/
  16. Them Priuses are the devils work :jump: :jump: :jump:
  17. It's true that the OEM Dual Mass flywheel cannot be resurfaced. But I find it highly unlikely that you would need to replace it after only 9600 miles. My old 996 had 69k miles on the original clutch and it still wasn't slipping. Unless you (or the previous owners) abused the clutch beware of mechanics who want to replace everything. They (the bad ones) count on Porsche owners being complacent and ignorant.
  18. Let's just say there are some serious Corvettes around here. I see one all the time that shakes the ground lol! I don't want to antagonize these types. They take it wayyyyy too seriously.
  19. Okay.. Problem solved. Putting in the new sprung clutch today and it seems that my "so called" tuner's tech (that installed my 3.6) put in the clutch disk backwards :o  :( :cursing: Will have the car back later today. I will share my experience with "Roock Autosport" at a later date and spare others who are considering him do ANYTHING to their car. As they say "boo! scary! run away!
  20. Here it is Mustangs, Benz's (with female drivers) WRX Subaru's and of course BMW's and all sorts of Japanese clunkers with the coffee can exhaust and Primer grey body kits. Corvette guys are pretty cool and they know they are much faster than me anyway. I stay clear of everyone. I crashed my last P car at speed and I'm lucky to be alive. No more 130MPH on the street... One thing I do like to do is make the idiot think you want to race. At the stoplight rev your engine and when the light turns green.. He goes like an idiot and you don't :D Then you get to watch him make a complete freakin fool of himself :jump: I will go fast on some windy bits but only if I'm the only car around. Biggest insult was when a guy in a Prius wanted to race... :(
  21. Did not put the numbers togheter as that may be dangerous in the way that I will have an answer when the wife will ask the same question. Ballpark should be 12000. :o :jump: :jump: :jump:
