  1. Thanks fr the feedback I'm going to look at a few more this week. I have cash so I should be able to have a leg up on the purchase. But this time I'm going to take my time and get exactly what I want. I'll update later
  2. I hate to put you guys through more of my car drama but here it goes. :o I have been looking at 01 and 02 996 Turbos and 2005 997 Carrera S coupes. I know the drama with the 05's but I will have a warranty if I go that route. The 996 Turbo (no offense) feels a bit dated on the interior. I have drivin some 500hp plus Turbos that are wicked fast but I feel I'm just driving a faster version of my old C2 996 cars. After driving both I'm really leaning towards the 997 S. It's a fantastic car and I like the look and feel of the new design. It's fast and very civilized. Because of the huge hit I'll be taking getting rid of my conversion car an 06 is out of my price range.. There is a huge price disparity with the 05's. Dealers are asking in the mid $50's (which I know is way too high) and private parties are all over the place. I would like to pay around $45k tops. Kelley blue book says $44k suggested retail and $40k from a private party for "S" cars with around 25k miles. Anyone have any input on what they are going for in their area? Is $44k a reasonable offer for a low mile 05 S? Know anyone that has one for sale? :D Any input would be appreciated. Thanks! Phillipj :renntech:
  3. Excellent.... :clapping: :clapping: :clapping:
  4. I wish for a huge rodent to eat my entire car so I can be put out of my misery..
  5. Check this white 996 GT3...... http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?ct=u...mp;rdpage=thumb
  6. I think he means how do you engage the fan to check it.....
  7. I think there is a link here if you do a search
  8. That's awesome..... :D  :D I don't know why they like Porsches so much. Must be the delicious RMS seals...
  9. I had an M3 as well. The interior is no doubt nicer than any 996.
  10. You are correct. The cheap plastic in the M3 is much nicer than the cheap plastic in the 996. Glad you clarified that for everyone
  11. Well, that's a good question. I thought all 'S' brakes (with red calipers and oversize rotors) were PCCB's, but maybe not. Those boxes of brake parts seem awfully heavy for light weight PCCB's! I'll check my order from Sunset. Good call! Only yellows are PCCB's. But thanks for your input!
  12. I'm pretty sure you have a family of Hamsters living in your engine bay. When you get them wet it make them angry. This has been covered many times here....
  13. Go to Google and do a search. You will find links to many You Tube videos that show the process. You can also contact Jake Raby http://www.lnengineering.com
  14. In my search for a new car I have run into 997 P cars with the PCCB brakes. How long do they last with nomal street driving? Thanks
  15. Yes the tuning will help but you will not get 30hp. The chip tuning works best when combined with Exhaust upgrades (headers, mufflers, cats.) Can get very expensive. If you jsut do the chip and mufflers you will notice a bit of difference. Better throttle response and sound rather than increased hp. The chip tuning will not create4 problems if done properly. See if you can arrange to drive a car they have performed the service on and see what you think. And a car of that age age probably did need those suspension components replaced. Welcome!! :welcome:
  16. I think I remember a thread on this subject some time ago.. Maybe if you do a search you will find some more info...
  17. Thanks gentlemen... ;)
  18. Nobody?????
  19. If you really want a 99' Search for one with a Porsche reman 3.4. Not a guarantee of no problems but a better engine. Like Benjamin said spend more money and get a better car. A Porsche that has been loved can be a very reliable trouble free car to own. One that has not been loved can be a financial nightmare. Look at LOTS of cars. Be patient and have cash in your pocket. A 99 with 80k miles is probably not a good idea. Although my 99 had 72k when I crashed it and it was perfect and needed nothing. But I loved my car... Spend more... get more... Good luck...
  20. Diipka, You got everything you need now :D
  21. Super easy. Just did it last week. Use a soft tool (I used a thin piece of soft wood) to get your fingers under the outside bottom edge. Apply gentle pressure (pulling out) and it will pop right out. There is an electrical connection you have to disconnect. The new one pops right in. 5 minutes at the most... PM me if you have any questions Phillip
