  1. You mean the Cayenne engines blow up as well? A 2008? What the heck is up with Porsche? :o Isn't your car still under warranty?
  2. This is a much more reasonable rate
  3. Wow that seems really expensive to me. If you bought the five year you might as well go and and buy a newer car with a factory warranty.
  4. Oh, and don't forget to pick up a big *** hammer. :clapping: :clapping: :clapping:
  5. Two words... "Harbor Frieght". They will have everything you need. It amazing how many tools you can buy there for $100. They are not "Snap-On" but they work great for the occaisional DIY. You can get your TORX sets , Sockets and rachets, Torque wrench, Wobble extensions, work lights etc. If you do search here I'm sure there are some threads here on most common tools. http://www.harborfreight.com/
  6. Tim, Sounds like a good opportunity to do Jake Raby's IMS upgrade. There are quite a few threads on this if you do a search. Here is a link to Jakes site and his IMS solution... http://www.flat6innovations.com/saving-an-...ne-ims-retrofit
  7. I have the car and it's more than I even hoped. :D It's amazing. I was so happy to get rid of that troubled 996. Trading it in was the best thing I did. The Sport Chrono is really awesome. The car gets to 100mph so quickly and easily. No rattles, squeaks, it's fantastic to have a coupe again. After driving a car with no mods I can really appreciate how great the car is stock from the factory. I will not touch anything. No rockers, wings, springs, air boxes, Nothing... It is so much faster than any of my other Porsches I'm fine with it ;) I have all kinds of Zaino products coming. I swore I wouldn't have a black car again but this one was too good to pass up. It looks really sweet with the windows tinted. I'll take some pictures and post them this weekend. No I can finally enjoy my car instead of worry about it. :renntech:
  8. The side markers have been ordered and the car got tinted today! I'm on my way to pick it up now :D
  9. It's an 06 "S" with 17k miles. I got it for $53k. It has the full leather interior, Sports Chrono package and the Porsche Sport Exhaust. Most 06's I found were going for around $57 to $59k. This one was loaded and unique. Plus I love the interior as well. I think a woman owned it and used it for a shopping mule :D
  10. That's awesome. Excellent job and write up! :clapping:
  11. Thanks Sam! You will have yours back soon and I hope you can get some relief on those labor charges!
  12. Thanks for the info. Yes it's always a good idea to keep the stock seats for the new owner if you do decide to sell one day. When I was looking for a new car I was amazed how some people mod a new car (wheels, suspension, exhaust, Bumpers) and fail to keep any of the stock parts. Makes a potential buyer look elsewhere. Beautiful car and enjoy your new seats!
  13. No it's "Terra Cotta" with black leather dash and door trim. I wouldn;t have liked it if it was all Terra. A lot of times Porsche does the entire interior in the same color including the steering wheel. That looks really bad in red.. This was a special order so the dash and doors trim and wheel were ordered black. This car was over $100k with all the options when new :o I pick it up in 5 hours (but who's counting.) :jump: :jump: :jump:
  14. Thank you my friend.. The Porsche gods owe me one... :D
  15. Pick up my new toy at 4pm today. Had a couple people call about my 996 but they were a pain in the rear so I'm just going to trade it in. :P Can't wait....... I'll post current pics when I get it. These are from the dealers ad...
  16. yes sir. A bargain indeed. We can both attest to that! :D
  17. Those are beautiful seats.. The carbon backs are sweet and they look good in the car. The only issue I have with them is the very large "Cobra" logo. Just my opinion  Enjoy!!!!
  18. Sounds like an AOS issue.. Do a search here. Pretty easy DIY on Boxster..
  19. That is so awesome!!!!! :clapping: Another "chirping" mystery solved by the old spark plug check!! Good luck with the AOS
  20. Do you know where (what dealer) the car was originally purchased? If so go to that dealer and you can purchase one from them. Maybe even your local dealer could sell you an extended warranty. Just don't let your current warranty expire. There are a lot of scam companies out there so be careful. I'm picking up an 06 "S" Carrera tomorrow. It's factory warranty expires in May as well. I will buy an extended warranty from my dealer before it expires (last week of April) I will pay $2,800 for a 50k/4 year warranty at that time. I think your price range should be around $2800 to $3500 for 4 years/50k miles(or more) Those are the numbers I found common when I shopped around for a new car. Worth every penny if your engine goes ka-blooey  Good luck!
  21. Tekky Considering it was out of warranty and Porsche is in dire financial straits this may not be too bad. I would have been happy to pay $4500 instead of the $13000 I paid. If I were you I would try to negotiate the labor costs. I can understand the labor to install the engine but not for the teardown when it blew up..... This should be a lesson to everyone about NEVER letting your P car go out of warranty. Porsche engines are the only engines that still commonly blow up in modern cars. :o Knowing this we must take precausions B) See if your dealer will negotiate a long term warranty in addition to the two years on the engine. Even if you don't keep the car it will increase it's value if you sell it. Good luck and I'm sorry you have to go through this BS..
