  1. That's awesome ...I want pictures :P
  2. Awesome! :D I have been to the Malaysian F1 GP and actually rode shifter karts there on a shortened version of the F1 circuit. I'm planning to go to Assen next year for Moto GP. And I guess this has to do with Porsches (Loren) because they go fast too!! B)
  3. Agreed. Replace the clutch while you are there...
  4. Thanks for the advise Phillipi Also nice to see that I'm not the only F1 follower in Cal My wife and I also enjoy Motorcycle Road Racing. Long live the TT. David David, Yes I'm a fanatical F1 fan as well as Moto GP and Superbike (really any kind of motorcycle racing.) I love the Le Man and GT series as well. The season is over now and I will be going through withdrawals for awhile. Nascar just doesn't do it for me  Congrats on your new car. I have an 06 Carrera S and I love it. It's sooo much fun. I have done some maitenance already such as oil change, air and cabin filter, cleaned my throttle body and swappped out the stock headers for the X 51's. If you are going to tackle any DIY's a PM me and I will share what I know. Not a lot of 997 DIY's with pictures yet on the forum. Luckily most things are the same as the 996. :welcome: :drive:
  5. I think that was supposed to be a joke... ;)
  6. Drive it and enjoy it!! (and don't baby it.) There are a lot of DIY's here for the 996 that are the same as the 997. Brakes are super easy. Filters easy.. Serpentine belt easy... Exhaust mods easy.. Change your oil at least every 5k miles. Your car has such low miles see if you can get and extended warranty from Porsche. The 05's are prone to engine problems but your engine could last forever.. Do a search here for lots of great DIY's. Also there is a maintenance checklist uner "DIY Menu" at the top of the page. Welcome to the forum and congrats on your new toy!
  7. You have the X 51 airbox. No muffler in yours
  8. I'll take a look tonight and post my findings tomorrow. I don't believe there is any material there but I'll double check.
  9. On my car it has a lot to do with the muffler in the airbox. I hate that thing. I know Porsche did it to comply with Euro sound requirements but... It's dissapointing that just when the engine starts to scream the sound just goes away.. :o I'm going to take care of that soon.. B)
  10. Drove the car again today. It is a definite improvement. :D
  11. I believe it's X-51 headers, throttle body, Airbox, intake manifolds, cams, polished heads and remapped ECU. Not worth the money ($25k to $28k) for 25hp in my opinion. Be better off getting the 997-2 "S" or gen 1 997 GT3 if you want the extra ponies...
  12. I just detailed my car today and looked at me\y hood from all angles (in sunlight and shade.) Mine is an 06 and I don't have the indentation in your photo. I would have the dealer take a look at it.
  13. Okay I put on the new X-51 headers yesterday. Wow was that an easy job. :D One 13 mm socket and some wobble extensions were all that were needed. I replaced them in about an hour and 15 min. I used ramps to get the car up. They fit perfect. Now for the test drive..... B) First thing I noticed was that the car was actually a bit quieter. Even with the PSE on the sound was muted a bit. I did an extensive drive to see if I could notice any performance changes. It seems to be an improvement. The car seems to pull better in second gear. It feels better throughout the rpm range. Whether this is a placibo or not I cannot tell. Some said that I may lose some low end torque. Definetly not the case... I'm happy did it and I feel there is an improvement. I'm sure this would be even more pronounced with an X 51 airbox, thottle body and intakes (but I'm not going there.) Anyone who want to change their headers on their 996 or 997 do it yourself! It's sooo easy.
  14. You have a valid point. I will be adding the headers this weekend. I will post the results after I drive the car. I don't mind being proven wrong. We will see. At least my experiment will give others good feedback. Thanks for all of your input. :renntech:
  15. Look for another car. Like Loren says there are many, many great Boxters out there for sale. This one will be a money pit...You don't want to go there.... Take it from me.. :cursing:
  16. If you sniff your rear tire well(s) after a spirited or high speed drive the odor is much stronger. Don't let anyone see you doing this however or they'll think your some sort of pervert.  :jump: :jump:
  17. That's great news. Good to hear a "good" dealer story. :D Glad you got it fixed. Now you can make up for lost time and drive the he** out of it!
  18. Here you go... http://mike.focke.googlepages.com/airoilseparatorreplacement Here is another great resource for your Boxster... http://pedrosgarage.com/Site/DIY_Projects.html
  19. You have to expect the dealer to always gouge you. Find a good Indy. There are plenty in LA. I'm in the Pasadena area and I can recommend a couple in my area if you like. I'm sure your warranty company will pay any authorized Porsche shop. 14 hours labor for what you need is absurd.
  20. I wouldn't change anything if I were you. :D
  21. That looks very nice indeed :clapping:
  22. That's freakin awesome. Yes we would all like to know your maintenance regime. And you keep your car immaculate. I like that! A clean car is a happy car. Congrats. I have no doubt you will get to 200k. :clapping:
