  1. here's your web site http://www.jpamporschejaguarparts.com/part...p;siteid=214626 good luck :renntech: This is a great place for parts. The only caviat is that it's online only. You really have to know your part numbers. Great prices and quick delivery
  2. +1 on the 3M adhesive remover. You can get it at most hardware stores. Wear a mask and use in a well ventilated area. The stuff is quite nasty B)
  3. Phillip: That is not technically correct. The Magnuson-Moss Warranty act puts the burden on the company denying a warranty claim to show that the aftermarket part is sub-par or that it actually caused the problem complained of. Of course, all dealers and OEM's want you to believe otherwise. Regards, Maurice. Good to know...Thanks Maurice. But I know that some dealers have not honered warranties where the DME has been flashed by after market software.
  4. Try x-51 headers, AWE Cats, X-51 Air box and some software. I have AWE Headers and Cats, Remus Mufflers, X-51 airbox, APR software, IPD Plenum, and a slightly modified Throttle body. I have never put the car on a dyno but I really enjoy the difference. My guess 25-40HP. Just remember you will say goodbye to your warranty if you make these mods.. B) Anything "non-Porsche" will techically void your warranty.
  5. I don't think the tranny will mate up but I'm not sure. There are also DME issues, programming etc. I'm sure someone a lot smarter than me will post some more concise info.
  6. There a quite a few reputable shops that will do your conversion the "right way" But be prepared for $10k plus for the conversion plus costs for engine, new clutch etc... The good ones will stand behind their work as well. Mr. Roock.......Not so much.....
  7. Guess that all depends on your budget B) If you have enough $ anything is possible. Might be better just to buy a GT3 and live with the 2 wheel drive
  8. Great news! Glad you got it back and the problem is solved! :clapping:
  9. My factory warranty actually runs out in April (my car is an 06 Carrera S.) I will get another 4 year/60k mile either from Porsche or an after market company called "Easy Care". I'm more concerned about years than mileage because I only put about 5k miles a year on my car. If I can get the dealer to give me warranty at a good price I will go with them. If not I will go with the aftermarket @ $2600 for 4 years with a $100 deductable. I'm sure you can get your dealer to work with you. Your car is practically new.
  10. I know that my last 996 would give AOS symptoms when it was over filled. Smoke on start up and at high revs around corners. Drained away the excess oil and the smoke went away.. Just my experience. These cars do not like to be over filled..
  11. Yes that is a reasonable offer...Yes you can negotiate.. And heck yes it helps your resale! :D I plan on extending mine in March...,Keeping the car for 2 years than selling it with 2 years left on warranty. Saavy Porsche buyers will always look for a warranty... Especially if it's a Porsche warranty..
  12. Porsche wants you to buy their new cars...Not make your old car faster. Too bad they are not like short block Chevy's....
  13. utkimpol, Great advice... i do have to point out though that the PSE (on all the time) combined with a smooth intake (Fabspeed or Schnell) prouduces a really awesome exhaust note. Best I've heard on my cars so far. I added the X 51 headers which actually changes the sound a bit. . I have had Fabspeed mufflers on my 996's. I loved the sound on the 3.4 but not so much on the 3.6. If you can get the PSE option on your car it's a pretty cool thing. But I sure wouldn't pay the money Porsche wants for it after purchase. Good luck on your search for a car!
  14. Booo..scary.... Be careful..If they don't upgrade the DME be very skeptical. And anyone that Roock deals with is to be dismissed....
  15. I make the money therefore I can spend the money...Believe me....She is well taken care of :D Besides she doesn't know about it yet :o This is a present to myself after all....
  16. I guess it's up to you. Are you going to get (or do you have) an extended warrnty? If your dealer says 60,000 you should be good if you choose to wait that long. I would do it at 40k if it was me.
  17. I've been told that some independents that perform the install can pass through the 2 yr warranty on reman engines. YMMV, Mike Mike, On a conventional replacement yes.. conversion no way... Although I have heard that Suncoast in Fla does conversions. So maybe they would honor the warranty if they did the work.......
  18. New Victor Equipment 20's with Pirellis. "Oh Phillip..You shouldn't have.." :jump:
  19. Gentlemen: This is a 1999 996, which is supposed to have a 3.4L engine. Do I have a 3.6L engine? a 3.8L? how can I tell? Is there a serial number somewhere on the engine that tells me what I have here? You have a 3.4
  20. Here is the deal... If you want a drivaeble car you have to do it right. You will have to upgrade to the 7.8 DME, replace the instrument cluster and rewire the harness. If you try to do it the cheap way you will have piece of crap on your hands. Trust me..... Search her for engine conversions. Todd has done many and does all his own work and figured out schematics for re wiring the harness. If you tackle this yourself your better have some skills. You can buy a reman engine from Porsche but you will probably get no core refund for your 3.4. And unless you have a dealer do the install you will get no warranty ( and the rub is dealerships don't do conversions.) Call Suncoast for prices on engines... Good luck but I would advise against it (unles you have a lot of experience and time on your hands.. Oh yeah and very deep pockets..
  21. Just enjoy the car and get a new a new one in the future. For the money the GT3 is the way to go...And you don't have to do anything to it... Rebuilding your engine is waste of money for what you get out of it. Not to mention mods hurt your resale value...
  22. You're amazing.. Thank you!! :clapping: They are actually lighter than I thought...... Phillip
  23. Does anyone know what the 2005 to 2008 stock 5 spoke 19 inch Carrera wheel weighs? I have been investigating replacing my wheels. I want to be able to compare wheel weight. Can't find the information anywhere. Pic shows wheels in question. Thanks!
  24. All engines.. But understand that most people thay have 05'2 have had no issues.. But I wouldn't touch and 05 without a warranty...
