  1. I can't answer your questions but here is a link that was posted awhile ago on the 2010 Turbo. http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?s...p;hl=2010+turbo Hope this is of interest
  2. You should consider the Castrol Full Synthetic 5w-40 or 10w-40. Both are easy to find. ;) The 5w-40 is on the Porsche approved list while the 10w-40 is not. B)
  3. agreed..That is the proper way...(When I had a dipstick...)
  4. Get the 06 S with Sport Chrono and PSE (and every other option you can find.) The tranny is your decision based on how much stop and go you do. My work is only 5 minutes from my house so I love my manual..... :D
  5. 03's are plentiful in the used market. Take a look at private parties. You should be able to find a perfect example of an 03 4S for less. Wow sorry Eric... I just saw how few miles are on it... This could be a bad thing or a good thing...As you know these M96 engines like to be driven. It seems that many engine issues come from cars that were rarely driven (like this example.) Has the oil ever been changed? Does it have a warranty?. If not will they offer one? The prices of 2006 997 S Carrera's are falling quite a bit. You can find a low mileage example for around $50k. If you're into that...
  6. , if you want to play, you gotta pay I disagree that just because someone can afford a Turbo they should be happy to give the dealer $500 for a freaking spare key. I manage money for wealthy individuals and most I know go out of their way to save money (on everything.) Scr$w Porsche (Range Rover, BMW,MBZ, Etc..) on their $500 keys. :censored: We don't buy "Porsche" batteries when we need one do we? The only reason we buy the keys is because they (Porsche) have us by the short ones and we don't have a choice.. I applaud Maurice on findiing a solution to this.. :clapping:
  7. I got a PM for him. he has already got in the car. Problem solved....
  8. You do know that you can call softronic guys and ask them to mod your file any way you want? Like to keep rev limit as stock (which is 7300 BTW, not a 7000)? Put on and off sport mode? Most gains from flash you get from pushing engine out of smog compliance limits enforced by legislature. That is what those 93 octane tuned maps essentially do. Same about 200cell cats. Properly done flash file just opens up stock engine to what is was supposed to be. And also are extreme flashes with pushing rev limit to 9K, pushing maps out of temperature guidelines, suppressing generation of any sort of error codes, meth/NO support etc - wild ricer sort of modding. General regular softronic flash should be perfectly safe. Thanks for correcting me on the max RPM... :( I have no doubt about Softronic making a quality product and that it does make the car run better. I guess my comment is just about our insatiable desire for more power. It's a sickness that unfortunetly I'm afflicted with as well.... :D
  9. :clapping: :jump: I wonder if he wants more HP too!
  10. I did a lot of mods to my first 996. Headers, mufflers, flash, Plenum and it definetly made the car more fun to drive. Now that I have a 997 I swore I would not mod it... B) I've already replaced the headers with he X-51's. Now because I can't leave well enough alone I'm thinking about ECU flash and cats. WTF? Why? Is it really going to make that big of a difference? And then I also void my warranty??? The issue I have with the flash of the software is that the rev limit is changed from 7k to 7500. That engine was never supposed to run at 7500 rpm and that's why Porsche made it 7000 (at least so it would be dependable.) I guess if you don''t care about the longevity of your engine it's a good mod. But if you have that much money to burn why not just get a Turbo and have endless hp possibilities? Used 01 Turbos can be had in the high $30's now.... I've had a NA engine let go and it's a major PIA and in the wallet. I plan to keep my car for two years and then get a GT3 or a Turbo. Will I have enough power then.?? I freakin hope so..... Just my rant for the day... :renntech:
  11. Not to fan the already very hot topic of oils but... I recently did my first oild change on my 06 Carrera. It had the Mobil 1 0w-40 in it. I changed to the fully synthetic Castrol 5w-40 and the engine is much quieter on cold start up. (on the Porsche appreved list by the way..) I think I gained 30-40 hp as well   Seriously this is a highly debated subject and like the other poster said it's really a personal choice.
  12. Oh my..... :o
  13. They look awesome. :jump: What a beautiful car :clapping: How much do the HRE's weigh? Are they lighter than your stock wheels? I noticed very little difference in ride quality with the 20's. How about on the Turbo? Thanks for the pics!
  14. Awesome! I'm glad you got it figured out. Please post pictures of your car.!! :D The 20's on a Turbo look soooo sweet.
  15. If you keep your reciepts B&M will be there to replace it if it ever fails. Good luck with the Chinese Version...
  16. Awesome. I'll file this.... Merry Christmas!!!!! :D
  17. If your not getting a "learning" message and it still says "TPC inactive" you will have to re set it. I'm pretty sure you have to rell the system what your new tire pressures are.... You could go to any good indy or high-end tire and wheel place that has a reader. You don't have to go to the dealer. That is unless you have a very good realtionship with them...Then they might do it for free. Good luck!
  18. Oh I agree. I would be concerned about you if you liked it!
  19. I just had 20's put on my 06 Carrera. I sounds like possibly your installer didn't program for the new wheels correctly. My installer used a reader to tell the system there were new tires. The system only allows for 18 or 19 inch but it really doesn't matter that you have 20's. What's important is that the new tire pressures need to be inputted then the system has to be put into "learn" mode. When you first drive the car you should get a message saying "TPC inactive" and then below it should say "learning" I drove the car for about 20 miles then the system went back to normal and the tire pressure warning light went off. Are you getting a 'learning" message? I hope this helps. Merry Christmas :D
  20. Good luck...I hope it's something minor B)
  21. Just was looking at prices of used 07 Turbo's when I came upon this... Greta car, great price...but wait... http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?ct=u...mp;rdpage=thumb Who would have ordered an interior like this???? :o Pamela Anderson? I think I might go insane after awhile... :D Happy Holidays to all :clapping:
  22. I would take it to a good suspension shop and have it aligned. Sounds like you have too much camber. Maybe the previous owner may have made some change to the stock Porsche settings
  23. Oh my! Are you sure you were still on pavement? :o Looks like a Baja 5000 incident  I'm so sorry...You wll definetly have to check your suspension and get an alignment after a shunt like that. From now on only take roads you know.... The Valley can be a dangerous place...... Hope you have her back on the road soon...
  24. Please stop going to the dealer! They obviously don't know how to address your issue. They already screwed you on the slave cylinder. That they are now trying to sell you a clutch is pathetic. Find a good independent and have him diagnose your issue. Just so you know my dealer wanted to replace my engine on one of my 996 cars because of a strange noise (and thanks to this forum) it turned out to be a loose spark plug :o I went back to them and told them how I fixed it myself and they were not too talkative...... Don't have too much respect for those guys to say the least.. B)
