  1. Why don't you guys cut him some slack on the English??... He apologized in advance that it's not his langauge... Dane.. Do a search here on oils. This is a very "heated" topic. There are many opinions.
  2. Excellent purchase Number 3! The color combination is beautiful.....
  3. Congrats on your new toy! Pictures please...........
  4. Agreed, If it was a 04 GT3 with 45k miles it wouldn't be going for $47k. Something is not right... It's definetly a GT3 though.....
  5. Paul, If you do have to make this repair do not be concerned about the difficulty removing the Plenum. It's actually quite easy. I replaced the stock plenum on my 996 and it was a simple job. You just have to make sure you line up everything properly when you re-install it. Good luck and I hope you get to the bottom of your issue.
  6. Should be painless.. I have had several smog checks on my 911's without an issue.....
  7. Great write up and great pics. So nice to see that clean engine. Hope you got the other side done.
  8. You have to check the fault codes first. Are you getting a CEL? Until you have the codes it would just be guessing....
  9. Call these guys.. They will be able to help you.. http://www.wheelenhancement.com/
  10. The 05 997's are unfortunetly known for engine issues. Porsche has been very good about covering engine repairs/replacement in the 05's even if out of warranty. Hopefully yours in not serious. Although smoke coming from one bank of cylinders is not a good sign..... Good luck and keep us posted of what the diagnosis is.
  11. Conti "contact Sport" tend to last pretty well. But I guess it depends on how you drive...... P cars go through the rears pretty quickly.... Kumho makes a great tire that is inexpensive and has great grip in wet and dry. Maybe you should give them a look.... http://www.wheelenhancement.com/index.php?t=TireDetail&id=6
  12. Over fill happens all the time. A good Porsche tech know to put in 8 quarts then check the level and add what's needed. Some guys just dump all 9 quarts in (which creates an over-filled situation.) I have heard some suggest on this board just to remove the oil filter housing which drains just about the right amount. I once used a suction tool (through the dipstick tube) on my 996 to drain the excess. Very messy but it worked. The oil filter housing sounds like the way to go.... Good luck and you shouldn't have any more problems once you get your level right..
  13. Yes just Push it back on. You shouldn't damage it my some twisting and pulling to get it off
  14. You have an overfill problem. Over fill will give similar symptoms to a bad AOS. You need to drain out about a half a quart. P car engines do not like to be overfilled so do this right away.
  15. It's probably your cam covers. In order to re-seal them you have to have a special Porsche tool to hold the cams when the cover is removed. Mechanics charge a lot for this. It's not going to hurt anything by not doing the repair right away. Mechanics and dealers like to call it "sweating" of oil. I can only speak from my experience on my 996...Mine were leaking and I bought the sealant. On the advice of RFM (a moderator on this site) I took out the bolts one -by-one and resealed them without removing the cover. It stopped the leaking... I don't know how hard this DIY would be on a Boxster... It's pretty easy on a 996.. Hope this helps
  16. if they fit they are not GT3 headers. By your description they are X 51 headers. Your Porsche "specialist" may be not telling you the whole truth
  17. "Twist and pull at the same time and be careful not hit the roof (or your face) when it comes off". I wish I could say I haven't experienced that but I have.....
  18. The butterfly is always stiff. It's normal. You wont break anything
  19. I have both the "911" and "Carrera". I like the "Carrera". I think it looks the best on that space. I also like the idea of "Porsche". Haven't seen that on a 911.. My 2 cents...
